Misleading feedback

Strange how all the Brad Sugars titles are reviewed by Action Coach members, don't take my word for it, take the reviewer's name & action coach & do a search on google.<br /><br />Bit poor really! Really goes against what the whole Amazon feedback form is all about!

Indept Analysis with simplicity

This book provides an indepth analysis of finance course for graduate level students. Accounting concepts are introduced in such a way that students with non-accounting background can also grasp the details.

Excellent book

Very clear and easy to understand, this book has simple and clear explanations for bookkeeping/accounting terms. The best definitions of Debit & Credit I have seen. Easy to follow exercises, can be used as a base for many bookkeeping/accounting courses.

The Warren Buffett Way

This is an excellent look at the investment style of Warren Buffett. It is extremely well written and very clear, I'd even go so far to say that you don't need an in-depth knowledge of maths to understand the principles outlined in this book as they are explained so clearly, with many examples based on Buffetts own techniques and actual stock/business purchases. It has a slight biographical quality about it as well, which is great for that deeper understanding of Buffett and what has motivated and shaped his thinking. Of all the investment books i've read, this is one of the most accessible and useful. A great introduction to Buffett and value investing. Highly, highly recommended. If this piqued your interest try 'The Essays of Warren Buffett' by Lawrence Cunningham for some brilliant examples of Buffetts own clear and entertaining writing style and investment wisdom.

Brill buy, thoroughly recommended, enjoyable read.

This book engages with fundamental free-market economics and applies them to the current financial situation primarily in the USA but with global perspective. It explains why the crash was coming for years, why the government stimulus and bailouts is the completely wrong fiscal policy for its citizens. Monetary policy is also covered with a warning of high inflation from the treasury printing money to cover government debts. This combines to predict a massive collapse in the US dollar, higher inflation and the biggest (coming) depression of all time. <br /><br />The same fiscal and monetary policy was undertaken by every western government at the time of the crash and therefore makes this book highly relevant to readers in all these countries. <br /><br />This book has opened my eyes to the world of government interference in the free market economies of the west. It explains where to invest your funds to protect them from the collapse of the dollar and where your funds will grow -gold, silver, overseas asian economies. The author puts his money where his mouth is - he does what he preaches many"guru's" do not. <br /><br />This is the best investment you will ever buy - knowledge of how the global economy works and where to put your money.

best book for financial econometrics

This was my coursebook of financial econometrics at Financial Engineering master program in Bogazici University. Chris's Book is one of the best in financial econometrics. Detailed but clear explanations to the hard concepts. The web site of this book is also very beneficial.

Elliott Wave Principle

To most EWT traders I know this is the most important read on the subject.

What people need to be aware of is the complexity of the subject, EWT is not a subject for beginners or passing traders looking for a system that they can get into within 4 weeks and trade with from that point on.

Whilst the book is not written in an easy to follow fashion, choice of words and sentence structure are unusual to say the least, the authors deliver a very full and complete study of a complex subject.

I have a number of books on the subject and whilst I would not say this is the easiest read, for the serious trader, who wants to apply EWT to their TA tool kit, and who wanst to learn the rules and guidelines properly, this is the only book required.

The edition is out of date and with it most of the projections however I know many EWT traders who are very successful from using this book as their start point for the subject.

Captivating read

This is without doubt one of the best books I have read for a long time. A captivating read and one of those books you dont want to put down. Not an investing book as such, because it is written in a way that describes the authors long running battle to expose highly dubious business pratices at a large financial company, but written in a way that also educates the reader at the same time (on how some companies try to manipulate the numbers, etc). Well worth reading even if you have no interest at all in investing.

Avoid

This book and most of the other CIMA learning systems new out for 2010 are terrible. If they are written by the examiners then we have no chance because not only are they illiterate but they also have mistakes on nearly every page! typo's I can live with, but workings in key examples are also wrong. I spent more time on the phone to the publisher then actually studying. <br /><br />I offered to sell a corrected textbook back to them for £500 which was very fair because it had over 200 errors in, however they showed no interest in correcting the errors and declined my offer.<br /><br />Avoid.<br /><br />I have now started to study with Kaplan, although the books are less detailed and have few examples there are next to no errors this year which makes study much easier. They focus on the likely topics you will see in the exam and have an exam kit with loads of examples which will see you through.<br /><br />David

Value Investing: From Graham to Buffett and Beyond

I've read The Intelligent Investor as a starter into the world of investing and it is clear why this is considered the"Bible" of investing. But there was a problem for me: where do you find these undervalued businesses? And of course most undervalued businesses are low-priced for good reason. <br />So upon reading Value Investing I was happy to find that the authors also realised this dilemma and explained a valuation method that I found simple and sensible. As Buffet says:"It's better to be approximately right than exactly wrong." It's hard to predict the future with any investment, but I found this book was right on the money in terms of the underlying philosophy. It even shows how to...which I found refreshing.<br />For example, the authors explain how to value businesses three different ways, each based on where the business lies on the growth curve. From how to value assets -including what to leave in and what to leave out in your calculations- to how to run a Discounted Cash Flow projection, you can go deep in understanding a business. Like the Intelligent Investor before it, this book aims to take the speculation out of investing.<br />As a business owner myself, I also learned a lot about my own business, because after all you are investing in a business, not in bits of paper. Now I approach my own business as if it were an equities investment and I have found it a very useful approach because it sharpens how you apply your strategy to the markets you compete in.<br />The end result is I have been able to understand and price investments that actually work. The Intelligent Investor is essential background, but this book gives you a current perspective and blueprint without breaking any of the tenets put forward by the gurus Dodd and Graham.

Everyone Should Read This Book...

The Science of Getting Rich has become one of the most precious things I own. I read it over and over, and frequently, and I want for nothing because I put into practice it's teachings. It's by no means easy and takes commitment and faith but the results are worth it.

Riddled with errors

This Textbook is riddled with errors, some of which are fundamental to studying for the F1 paper. If you are self studying do not rely on this textbook as you will waste too much time figuring out wether you got the question wrong or it is the textbook.<br />Have not tried BPP or KAPLAN books, but they can't be worse than this.<br /><br /><br /><br />
