Fantastic for anyone travelling to Orlando

My husband bought this book as we were travelling to Orlando with friends. We had been to Orlando previously, but it was over 7 years ago.<br /><br />This book it packed with really useful tips and hints. We planned all our activities based on the quietest days to travel - and we had a great time, the longest ride we waited for was 20 minutes. However it was September and this is usually one of the quiestest times to travel. <br /><br />Every day the book would be with us, I have since passed onto my friends to use, definately worth the money. It even has discount cards in the back, which we used at one of the Retail Outlets - 15% off Adidas, as well as lots of other stores.<br /><br />

Times atlas of the World - but which one to get?

There is a whole host of books called"Times atlas of the world", and I was terminally confused. Until I did a bit of homework, and came up with the following: (all prices quoted from Amazon, August 2008) <br /><br />The biggest is called COMPREHENSIVE, costs £75 , is 47x32 cm, has 125 map plates (not pages, as most spread over 2 pages) and a 217-page index. <br /><br />The next is the CONCISE, costs £37, is 37x27 cm, has 105 plates on 198 map pages, and a 140-page index to 130,000 names. And 32 city maps, which is something the biggest lacks! <br /><br />The next is the UNIVERSAL, costs £ 33, is 32x27 cm, has 170 pages of maps (not plates - probably 90 plates), an index to 50,000 names, and 32 city maps. <br /><br />The next is the REFERENCE, costs £19, has 104 pages of maps (not plates - probably 60 plates), an index to 45,000 names, and 46 city maps. <br /><br />The next is DESKTOP, costs £ 11, 25x19 cm; <br />then the COMPACT, costs £ 7, 21x15 cm; <br />then the MINI, costs £ 5, 15x11 cm. <br /><br />Are those names logical, or what? I don't think so - but I hope this little guide helps. I got myself the CONCISE (that is, number two) and am well-pleased. Beautiful clear mapping, and it just fits into the bookcase; the largest one is very beautiful, but will have to live permanently on some large, weight-bearing surface!

Disappointing

There was not much new in this edition and I wished I had stuck with the previous version. It's misleading to call it 'new' when so much of the content is 'old'. It represented poor value in my opinion. Also, some of the walk descriptions are vague and not that easy to follow with great chunks of the routes not described at all.

Excellent bright and colourful and not too cluttered.

This is a great first map for a young child. The detail is limited to countries and capital cities so its not cluttered up with tiny print. Brightly coloured and laminated for protection against sticky fingers it should help make basic geography fun.

OK, But needs updating

Although the book boasts 'www upgrades' on the cover, there is currently no update available. The hotel information appears to be VERY out of date, so the price guides are a waste of time. The book does not really reference the www, but at least it's not as uptight as the rough guides

Excellent learning material

Firstly if, you already own the netters atlas in book form with all the diagrams, this book adds very little to it, but if you are looking for flash cards with extra information then these are for you. The cards come with arrows on the front with a,b, c, d notation and on the back they tell you all about the specific part...very good for revising and self test. All in all, extrememly useful if your on an MD degree and need to know Anatomy inside out!

AA Mallorca map...

It is not possible to get the equivalent of our OS walking/touring maps for Mallorca; over the years I've tried everything...David Brawn's north of the island walking map gets close, but in general - even if you try a map specialist such as Stanford's in London - recent mapping is non-existent although I did manage to get some old ex-military sections of the island. This AA map is the best of the bunch for car touring and for getting to the start of walks and finding their finish in conjunction with something like the Sunflower guide. This AA map shows many of the minor routes that you don't get elsewhere, but with lots of recent road building it needs urgent revision - the central motorway now goes on further north than Inca, for instance. Most island maps are horribly superficial, this is the best.

Best Map of Madeira for Walkers

This map is really clear and easy to read. Plus, it is really up yo date with new roads etc. so useful for driving and particularly for walking showing many tracks.
I would recommend this map as ideal for visitors to Madeira.

Great book to explore the countryside close to London

We have done several walks in the book and have enjoyed them all. The instructions are clear (and updates are posted on the website), and all the information you need is in there. There are great tips on where to have lunch and this often turns into the real highlight of any walk (that long awaited glass of cider on a hot summer's day in the garden of a country pub) ...<br /><br />If you like walking and exploring the glorious English countryside, this is the book you need to inspire you and take you away from the London smog!

A great help for travelling!

This book is a helpful source for travellers to London. It contains all sorts of information to help you find the highlights of the city, wether it be attractions or hotels this book comes with all the info. The Maps are also very helpful to plan you trip. This is a number one buy for traveller's to London.

Rough Guide Marrakesh Map

This map is an absolute must for anyone going to Marrakech. I recently went and not only would have been totally lost without it, but would have missed out on some of the treasures Marrakech has to offer. Street names are a rarity but this map makes up for the lack of them by being absolutely perfect - even through the maze of the souqs! Without it i may have had to resort to pay a few dirham to be guided by locals who either take you on a roundabout route to where you want to be, normally via their cousins tannery, or send you in completely the wrong direction and laugh at you as you go. Buy it before you leave or suffer the consequences!

Great detail, sturdy but split in two

This map looks and feels top quality. A quick check of the small places I know seems they haven't forgotten the detail.<br /><br />This map would be ideal for touring on the road (what I will use it for eventually) but not so useful for planning as it is split across back/front for north and south India. I know India is a big place, but for planning a 6 month trip it's not so great to be flipping the map back and forth - plus, you can't stick it to a wall for an overall view.<br /><br />BUT - on the road this will be great.<br /><br />Quality is brilliant and the price is fantastic.
