Great book to explore the countryside close to London
We have done several walks in the book and have enjoyed them all. The instructions are clear (and updates are posted on the website), and all the information you need is in there. There are great tips on where to have lunch and this often turns into the real highlight of any walk (that long awaited glass of cider on a hot summer's day in the garden of a country pub) ...<br /><br />If you like walking and exploring the glorious English countryside, this is the book you need to inspire you and take you away from the London smog!83

Very useful
This is a good, useful map. Two sided, each 55cm x 65cm, scale 1:40,000, 2.5cm =1km, which is about 1.5inches = 1 mile. Not quite as good as a British Ordnance Survey map, but better and cheaper (from Amazon) than any maps I saw in Madeira. All the main roads, tourist info, contours, (with good background colouring to indicate height,essential in such a mountainous region), footpath details, with references to walk numbers in guide-books, levadas, a place-name index... There is also a small street-map of the centre of Funchal, but it's really too small to be of use. Collect a free advertising tourist map from your hotel for the centre of Funchal. David Brawn's Madeira Bus & Touring map is also useful if you plan on using local buses.84

Great for avoiding tube delays and the true positioning of stations helps reduce excessive travelling times.

Excellent bright and colourful and not too cluttered.
This is a great first map for a young child. The detail is limited to countries and capital cities so its not cluttered up with tiny print. Brightly coloured and laminated for protection against sticky fingers it should help make basic geography fun.89

Don't leave home without it.
Thought I'd leave a short message on Beyond Disney.<br />I bought the book in readiness for a week long trip, after purchasing a Flex Ticket Plus, and with plans to visit the major theme parks (Non Mouse related).<br />Simply the book made the holiday easier and far better. The reviews of the attractions were generally spot on, although the Mummy ride at Universal Studios must surely be the best ride imaginable. Only slight problem is the changes that have taken place at the parks since the book was published, e.g. The Simpsons replacing Back To The Future, but that is a minor quibble and it's not as though I wouldn't have ridden The Simpsons.<br />The idea of giving an outline for the best way to tour each park during the day is worth the money alone, saving hours of unnecessary queuing time. The descriptions of each attraction are detailed and considered.<br />Take it with you and read before the start of each day. You will be thankful.90

This guide book is packed with everything you need to know to get the most out of your trip to New York.<br />We found the street maps to be a great help,each area scaled onto an A5 page...easy to read and with all the main attractions clearly marked.<br />Restaurant reviews were accurate and well advised and hotel reviews fair (we stayed in three of the recommended hotels whilst there and found the guide book opinion on each to be close to the mark.)<br />This guide also has a really informative chapter on shopping in the Big Apple........Shopaholics beware! Enjoyable by all ages
I am so pleased that the"This Is" series of books by Miroslav Sasek are back in print. Elsewhere, the comments on Sasek's work have been"only good for children up to 3 years!" Well, I'm in my fifties and I intend to collect the ones I most enjoyed as a child, such as This Is San Francisco and This Is Rome. In an age of electronic wizardry Sasek's books stand out as a reminder of a time when books were the chief form of entertainment and education. <br /><br />Sasek's art and wit are truly original and unique. He manages to take the reader on a journey through both the landmarks of his subject and the everday minutiae that makes up a country and its culture. Each book is a remarkable achievement.<br /><br />It must be remembered that the chief driver for Sasek's success was the explosion of foreign travel for leisure during the 50s and 60s.<br /><br />Do his books stand the test of time? Well, to be truthful the answer is no if you want up to date facts and figures. However, I cannot see how his quirky, funny pictures coupled with his subtle wit would not continue to amuse and educate children of all ages for generations to come.100

The layout is really easy to use and if you enjoy a good pint, great food and adventure then this is the book for you, it knocks spots off all others.
