<br />I had asked for this book after watching James Wong's tv programme after being fascinated and it is excellant. Well laid out and easy to read and understand. Can't wait to get out in my garden, pick some herbs and get going!!

Best Make-Artistry Book on the market

This book is the most clear, concise and comprehensive make up manual I have seen on the market. With over 25 years experience in the make up industry Bobbi Brown writes this manual for all types of women (and men) who are interested in make up from the teenage novice to the seasoned artist and everything in between, the book covers dietary tips for healthier skin, as well as make up for all skin tones, season, age and occasion. Although it is true that a large part of this book is taken up by those who have an interest in breaking into the industry and looking for career options in make up artistry, the book is clearly divided into into two distinct sections for the needs of every individual. It is also beautifully photographed and really does have something for everyone. Check it out!!

Much too hard to do yourself! only possible if you are a hairdresser...

I brought this book as it said you can do the hairstyles by yourself which is wrong. My mum and I have tried them together but its too hard. We cant manage any of them! not one! The photos are lovely although some of them are a bit"90's". I'd say buy this if you are a hairdresser or a bride looking for ideas.

The Handmade Soap Book

So I was as excited about this book as everyone else at the start. I successfully made various batches of soap from it and was inspired to start a small soap making business. To cut a long story short, I have just found out that I have wasted a LOT of money and time by using the recipes in this book as a guide to making soaps, as I have now discovered that, due to editing and other mistakes, many of the quantities in it are wrong, so the soaps I have made will not pass Safety Assessments. This book should come with a serious health warning.

Beautiful photos and very informative

This book is filled with insider's tips and there is just so much information to take in for a novice like me. The photos were beautiful, with a big emphasis on eye makeup. However, I was personally hoping for a bigger emphasis on more everyday make-up. Instead I found that this book was more geared towards creative and dramatic fashion runway sort of makeup. Still it is an excellent book!

Just started......

I have bought this book after coming across this type of book by chance. I didn't even know that you could do facial workouts.... I am 52 and blessed with great genes, many people think that I am almost 20 years younger. In the past I never cared about what I ate or about exercising, I just looked good even after having three daughters who are all now grown up but with the age I found that my body was going a bit downhill and before things change for the worst I decided that I had to do something about my fitness. And why not about the fitness of my face as well? After reading a lot of reviews on books on facial workouts I was very much mixed up and not knowing what to buy as there are many positive reviews but many negative reviews as well. This lady seems to have worked on this method for a very long time and even started with the lady who developed it so I thought that it had to be a bit trustworthy. I have read the book which gives you a lot of very useful information even if at times a bit outdates but you can have a bit of a laugh and that is great for your health as well. The facial exercises of which I only tried a few because I am pressed for time right now seem very interesting although difficult to execute at first. I also liked the other exercises. The bottom line is that I can't wait to have a bit more time to start doing it for real. They might not make me look 10 years young otherwise it would be rather strange when I go out with my three grown up daughters but hopefully it will make me grow old gracefully! A little book which is really worth the little money you pay for it!

Great book! If, like me, your make-up routine needs a little up-dating, then this is the book for you. It's full of tips and different styles for all occaions. My teenage daughter thought it amazing too.

Carole Maggio - Thankyou

I want to say thank you to Carole Maggio for a programme of simple exercises that really make a difference.<br /><br />I was converted to face exercise after a couple of weeks of trying another system - I really saw the changes, but felt my face was getting fatter which I did not like. I saw Carole in action on Youtube and Google and I really liked her forthright approach. So I bought the book here and I am now about three weeks down the line on exercising almost every day - sometimes twice a day - sometimes missing a couple of days.<br /><br />At first the exercises seem a little difficult to envisgae and out together. I just persevered and it got easier every day. <br /><br />I really am noticing some very good changes. My nose (which seemd to be expanding in every direction in older age!)- seems to actually be getting some shape. My mouth to chin lines are disappearing as are my nose to mouth lines. My eyelid droop is visibly reduced and - this is the greatest wonder - that mass of unmentionable double chin - HUGE - is actually withdrawing - I can see it.<br /><br />I recommend this book with grateful thanks to Carole. Buy it, try it and persevere!<br /><br />C.B

Great body boost

I bought this book to help me with my shape after watching Gok alot on his shows.<br />It has given me so much confidence that I had to buy for my shape and to make the most of what I have got so the charity shops had 6 yes 6 big bags full of unwanted clothes now thats a good Goking.

One of the best craft books I've ever come across!

This book is truly inspirational. It frees you from worrying about technique to focus on the sheer joy of making. There are enough instructions to get every project right, but you won't get bogged down in technical difficulties or measuring that extra half centimetre.<br /><br />I came away with lots of ideas, and the urge to immediately make something. Which I did!

Colour analysis really works!

This is a good book with useful advice but I do think it is really difficult to analyse yourself, so I would suggest a proper colour consultation first. I was given a Colour Me Beautiful consultation for my 50th birthday last year and it was one of the best presents I have ever been given. I was analysed as a 'warm' with 'soft' tendencies and spent a very enjoyable couple of hours with a friendly consultant who suggested colour combinations, ways of sorting my wardrobe, did my make-up etc. I was then given a wallet with all my colour swatches in - really useful when going shopping and I have stuck to the advice with great success. I would definitely recommend buying the book but do try and treat yourself (or drop hints for your birthday) first!

Lu Lu's Fabby Book!!

This is a fantastic and informative book, full of wonderful info and fabulous pictures. So impressed I even purchased her time bomb range.<br /><br />Would certainly reccomend this book.

I bought this book for my teenage daughter thinking it would be great for her to recreate the looks...what a huge dissapointment...it was like things 7 year olds would think up..think out of all the looks there was only one that I liked and none that my daughter liked...cant believe this person does this for a living. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />

Excellent

I thought this book was so interesting. It covers many aspects of soap making with lots of advice and tips. The recipes were straightforward and I found it really helpful as it explains how to create your own recipes with all the technical info you'll need.

The best book on style....

<br />...I love buying these types of books (not that I'm saying that they have exactly turned me into a 'style icon' just yet!), and this is quite definitely the best. Very well written, absolutely beautiful photographs - and all the advice in it really makes sense. I've got hundreds of clothes, all of which I love as individual pieces - but I never know how to combine them to best effect. (I suspect most women are like this...we've got enough stuff, we just aren't using it properly!)<br /><br />This book helped me put together a 'look', and (if you have the same problems in 'clothes combining' that I had) I recommend you buy it, take it up to your bedroom, open your wardrobe, and start matching things together. I did this, and people have been making comments to me at work about my 'new wardrobe' (it's all the same stuff - worn differently). Sometimes, it was as simple as putting a narrow belt around the outside of my cardigan, wearing 'statement' earrings (that I would never usually wear to work..)and adding bolder lipstick. I also experimented with skirt lengths and heel height, and more than a few people have commented on my 'weight loss' (there hasn't been any..)<br /><br />I have bought around 10 'style' and 'fashion' books from Amazon - this is by far the best.

All those solutions ...

Brilliant book. Solutions to so many niggling queries about construction. Great ideas for future projects. Wish I'd read it years ago - how many designs have never got further than the drawing board because I couldn't work out the way to hide the construction of garments when using fine fabrics. Would recommend to any experienced dressmaker for reference. Positively inspirational.
