Like WOW!

I bought this book as soon as it came out and got the hardback with the gold cover and bird on the front, recently i saw the pink covered one and just had to have that too. I love Gisele's way of thinking, she absolutely adores life and all the wonderful experiences it can bring. I also have her first book 'The Goddess Guide' and the two together, although some material is repeated, make for a delicious read, i can trawl through them for hours. I love that she lays out her pages almost like a scrapbook and her attention to detail is stunning. Gisele lives the life every girl dreams about, she travels continuously seeking stylish and truely beautiful items and seeks the best of everywhere she goes from the best tea palours and boutiques in Paris to the best clubs and bars of Berlin. Whats exciting is that she notes down the names and addresses of these places usually with a website and a telephone number, i literally go through each page and type the web addresses into google and just discover! Buy it, any girl would simply love it!

Beautiful book.

This is a truely beautiful book, of the sort that you would happily have on your coffee table. Reallly gamorous photos and excellent diagrams with good suggestions. I looked at loads before choosing this one and couldnt be happier with it. I bought it for my 15 year old daughter's birthday along with a voucher for a make-up tutorial at the local beauty salon. She was over the moon and has her nose in the book constantly!

ok but...

Enjoyed this book but it's really for the complete amateur.It's ok for an overview of the world of herbs and their uses;the cough remedy using elderflower is brilliant but the soap recipe wasn't good,failing to set firmly, so I would get this book out of the library and save your money for a more serious and comprehensive one.

Beautiful!

Bought this as a present for an aspiring make-up artist friend. Had a flick through it, lots of great tips, very informative and gorgeous photos. <br />But most importantly, she absolutely loved it!

handmade soap book

great book .Really enjoyed learning about soap and the process and ingredients. Cannot wait to test out the recipes.

Fantastic

I bought this book for my sister as a birthday present, with the idea that because she's recently got engaged she could try out some of the hair styles for the wedding.<br />Both her and her fiancee have looked through the book and have found several hair styles that they love.<br />There are 62 hair styles all together, so if you can't do one you can go and try another. They are quite easy to understand and there are some really amazing styles to try out, literally for every occasion

Just started......

I have bought this book after coming across this type of book by chance. I didn't even know that you could do facial workouts.... I am 52 and blessed with great genes, many people think that I am almost 20 years younger. In the past I never cared about what I ate or about exercising, I just looked good even after having three daughters who are all now grown up but with the age I found that my body was going a bit downhill and before things change for the worst I decided that I had to do something about my fitness. And why not about the fitness of my face as well? After reading a lot of reviews on books on facial workouts I was very much mixed up and not knowing what to buy as there are many positive reviews but many negative reviews as well. This lady seems to have worked on this method for a very long time and even started with the lady who developed it so I thought that it had to be a bit trustworthy. I have read the book which gives you a lot of very useful information even if at times a bit outdates but you can have a bit of a laugh and that is great for your health as well. The facial exercises of which I only tried a few because I am pressed for time right now seem very interesting although difficult to execute at first. I also liked the other exercises. The bottom line is that I can't wait to have a bit more time to start doing it for real. They might not make me look 10 years young otherwise it would be rather strange when I go out with my three grown up daughters but hopefully it will make me grow old gracefully! A little book which is really worth the little money you pay for it!

great book. lots of tips and tricks. you can read it every day and still find something new.

Disappointing

Having watched all of Gok's programmes and being a huge fan, I had really high expectations of this book, but I was disappointed. I was hoping to be able to create a modern capsule wardrobe, but feel that I was left with more questions than solutions and still do not feel that I have a clear guide to thinning out my wardrobe. On a positive note, the layout was great and it is easy to read. I a;so liked the fit tips and I am hoping that I will be able to dip into the book to give me some ideas as I go through the new year clear out.

Just Brilliant!!!!!

Buy it, read it, change your life! It's that simple. One of the most accessible and logical to implement personal development books I've read and the only one that has really struck a chord and inspired me to make real, lasting changes. I feel great on it and honestly can't recommend it strongly enough. Do yourself a big favour - buy it, read it and do it!!!

Love this book

As this book is cheap, it is a great buy!<br />Gives you loads of great ideas to experiment with colour and eye make-up ideas.<br />I have used loads of looks for daily and night-time....<br />Not sure you can go wrong with this book if you love eye make-up!

Disappointing

I bought a book by Liz Earle years ago about how to make your own skin creams and had expected this to be in a similar vein. Instead there is justification for using artificial chemicals (including some nasty scare stories), and recommendations for some seriously expensive products. The book is visually beautiful and Liz herself is radiant but unless you have money to spend on looking good, forget it. This book left me feeling conned, compared to the earlier book I had that had left me inspired. For a really good modern book on natural beauty I recommend the one by Josephine Fairley.

Good, but not 5 stars

Who says you can't judge a book by its cover? Bright, pink and furry is pretty accurate. It actually has soft furry bits on the cover which feel nice when you are holding it. This beautifully presented little book is full of glossy pages detailing beauty and style advice from the stars, past and present, including Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Reese Witherspoon, Penelope Cruz and Kylie Minogue. It also contains advice from their make-up artists, hairdressers and stylists. There are tips and tricks in here that I had never heard of as well as a few that will be familiar to most women who have read this sort of book before. There are photos of the stars and a few diagrams in the sections which advise you on how to re-create particular `looks'. One, for example, explains how to achieve Debbie Harry's smoky eyed make up. It also has advice on being beautiful inside and out including being charitable and conversation skills. I really like old fashioned values and vintage glamour and it provided a lot of inspiration for both of those interests. The writer has an amusing writing style and the book did make me smile. However, I cannot give it 5 stars because at times it annoyed me. One reason for this is that on a couple of occasions the advice seems contradictory. For example, in one part ladies with hourglass figures are told to avoid wearing an outfit that is all white but in another they are advised to wear an all white outfit. Another reason is the part about buying a dog; apparently, the smaller/fluffier the better. I'm not a fan of toy dog breeds and I don't think they will help you in becoming adored. Also, as I suspected, being adored requires a lot of time and money!<br /><br />To conclude: This book is a fun, easy read and is worth having on your bookshelf for reference regarding beauty tips and tricks. I found it informative and the appearance of the book is lovely. I didn't agree with some of the advice given but on the whole it is a nice book.<br />

For the young in face

This book is really for the 30 to 50 age range before any deep wrinkles appear and is more about changing face structure than skin surface. Not a book for older women (or men) where they are hoping to iron out already formed deep wrinkles. I also found the book boring in its presentation. On the good side I do know younger people who have improved their face shape by doing these excercises but you have to be dedicated, as with any excercise regime, you can't stop<br />and hope to keep the status quo.

Interesting guide

I first came across this book during a visit to Selfridges and was attracted to it immediately. I'm no extreme person when it comes to perfumes, but I'm definitely over average interested and obsessed. I buy a new scent every month, at least, and I'm always searching for something new and exciting. This guide covers most of the perfumes released the recent years, classics and some limited editions, I found reviews written about a 2/3 of the perfumes I have in my collection in this book. Sometimes I feel they're a bit unfair, writing one sentence about a certain perfume (they hate), then two pages describing another one (they loooove). Some might feel a bit offended by the way they tear apart classics and beloved scents, and it might feel like they're being too personal and subjective at times, but then again they claim that it is possible to separate good perfumes from bad perfumes as easy as that. I learned that I own terrible perfumes (Britney Spears - Curious) and lovely ones (Lolita Lempicka). Some reviews might surprise you, even shock you. <br />The book definitely made me look at perfumes differently and I am now more open to give tried and tested ones another chance, and try new fragrances that I never would have considered before.

unless you have no knowledge of tailoring or garment construction this book is not worth purchasing, pretty pictures,info nothing out of the ordinary for an advanced dress maker

Brilliant and timely!

At this price, this is going to all my friends, relatives and godchildren as an extra present. I've been a fan of the beauty bible for a long time and I really trust the results (I've been a tester myself) and I think it's great that this champions products that are definitely value for money but still make you feel good - you know they must exist but you'd be having to take a shot in the dark to guess which ones. I've always been a sucker for expensive moisturisers in the past, thinking my skin needs them, but a few days after starting to use the L'Oreal Dermogenesis cream that scores highly in this, I'm a convert. VERY useful, great price.<br />
