Ok but not as funny as it thinks its is

I like JSP and her outspoken manner, but I didn't like the format of this book - all the different fonts and stuff got on my nerves, and it isn't as funny as I'd hoped. She does speak a lot of sense though.

The book does not help. The same model poses for pear shape and hourglass??? (same for the other models)<br />Why not take Trinny and Susannah's approach and show exactly what kind of clothing each shape needs instead of showing us ball gowns? Why not use the women from the series?<br /><br />

Going forward

A beautifuly presented book, making it an easy read as it is so delightfully presented. However, the presentation is just the icing on the cake. Inside is an open an honest appraisal of getting organised and getting what you want. What surprised me is the ease with which Nicky Hambleton-Jones takes you on a journey. <br />I found her focus on knowing what you want or having a dream not only interresting but useful points on crystallising that dream. The idea of on paper as a wish list is incredibly easy. I have only formalised it all in my head but already my shoulders felt lighter - it is a joy to know you can do whatever you want and even if you don't succeed it is better to do it than not. <br />Obviously Ms. Hambleton-Jones has been succesful so her advice is easy to swallow but it is the idea of turning dreams into reality that is the key motivator here.<br />The book is straightforward, full of practical tips for transforming body and mind. It is nice to read a book that is about self help but doesn't wander off into spirituality. It remains grounded in the here and now but wisely allows you to choose your destiny. The use of experts helps it to be more rounded and gives additional perspectives.<br />Overall Top to Toe is a pleasurable read and has a cheery disposition - you can't help but be infected!

Difficult to understand

I have a suspicion these 5 star reviews aren't all real. This is a fairly interesting book - and I do believe the theory behind face exercises. The problem is that this book is quite hard to follow in terms of a) knowing whether you're doing the exercises correctly and b) understanding what she is talking about! For example:"visualize crushing a pencil between your lips" and"imagine that your cheeks are moving out from your face towards the ceiling, then exiting, like two small balloons, through the top of your scalp".<br />Excuse me?!!<br />Some of the exercises are good and you can feel them working; however several seem to rely on what Maggio calls"the mind-muscle connection" which appears to entail just imagining that you are exercising the muscles. I'm sorry, but I fail to see any science behind that. That's a bit like going to the gym then just imagining running on the treadmill!<br />The eye and the neck exercises are good. The cheek and mouth ones much less so. If Maggio concentrated more on exercises which actually physically worked the facial muscles and less on the 'imagination' part, the book and the exercises would be a lot better and a lot easier to follow. <br />

the girls book of glamour

I gave this book to a friend of mine for her young cousin and she just loved it. the tips are great. the presentation of the book with the lovely pink cover and great illustrations really catch your eye. It doesnt disappoint in any way. The advice is written beautifully and in an informative but easily read style. Teenage girls will love it,and the older generation will be sneaking a look too !!! buy it its great fun and knowledge all at the same time.

If you love fashion, you'll love this !!

If you're as mad as i am about fashion, then you'll love this book! This book covers everything from the true British designers to world renowned Fashion Gods!! The photos are very classy, and the layout is very stylish !! In alphabetical order, the book is very easy to use. A definate must have for any Fashion Student.

An excellent supplement for a full colour consultation

A really good book for those obsessed with health and beauty!

I'm one of those people who is forever buying magazines and books in the hope that i'l find out more hair and makeup hints and tips, and this book really hits the spot!<br />Full of facts and tips that I have never heard before (and i have heard A LOT) its a brilliant buy for those who like 2 keep upto date with their beauty regimes

An Excellent guide

This is an excellent guide to everything you always wanted to know. It contains lots of little tips that no one had ever shared with me, but really work. It is an easy read, and i would recemmend it.

The most beautiful book I've ever seen

I bought this book two weeks ago and think it is the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Not only is the information cutting edge it is beautifully photographed and stunningly illustrated (I'm almost sure it's all done by the same lady who has written it). Like a very beautiful journal full of secret addresses, funny personal anecdotes and great tips, it's utterly unique as this style of book goes. I was especially surprised by the beginning of each chapter where the author tells a little story (very personal and intimate) and then the rest of each chapter is steeped in Style, Beauty, Food, Travel tips and secret shopping addresses and advice with the help of big, big names in the fashion and beauty world. This is a lovely, lovely book, full of practical tips from everyone from Christian Louboutin in his studio in Paris (I learnt all about those special red soled shoes and how to care for them) to Dolce & Gabbana in Milan (create the prefect wardrobe) and Laura Mercier on finding the perfect foundation. It's thoroughly enjoyable and ingeniously put together. For me however the big bonus is Gisele Scanlon's secret shop addresses and numbers and her perfume shopping advice it has been very helpful to me in the past week when shopping for different kinds of scents for my sister and friends. Her knowledge can be quite brilliant at times on travel, style and beauty matters. Overall this book is a truly beautiful read and the author seems very kind and helpful and shares everything she knows in a very friendly manner like having a friend tell you about a place she has been or a thing she has seen. Highlights for me after two weeks of dipping would be finding the perfect exercise bra, my make-up bag essentials and of course my favourite subjects perfume shopping and beautiful cupcakes which I found as one of her addresses in afternoon tea. I love this book and everything about it screams girly glamour. I'll be giving this as a gift to all of my best female friends over the next few days, however my own copy will stay in my handbag as I'm hoping to check out a few more of those fabulous shopping addresses come the January sales.

excellent tattoo refference

After reading the other reviews on this page I wasn,t sure what to expect,but let me assure you that this book is worth every penny.Great pictures.The only trouble is it,s not long enough. Buy this NOW

Well worth the money

I bought Eva Fraser's book about five years ago, and did some of the intermediate exercises faithfully for a few weeks, then fell off the wagon, I'm afraid. However, advancing years forced me back into Eva's fold, and I started again, in earnest, three months ago, and worked my way up to the more advanced exercises, and, to be honest, I doubled up on the number of repetitions. The first results, after I checked in a month and compared against a photograph from day one were encouraging, to say the least. My eyes were much less hooded, you could see my eyelids, and a slight droop in one eye was beginning to be corrected. After three months my cheeks have lifted, and my neck and jowls improved almost beyond recognition. Mind you, Eva does not promise instant results, or anything like this, but some are luckier than others, but ALL can benefit. I was not expecting results for much longer than this, and I am really impressed. I should mention that I am a firm believer in exercising, and that I managed to cure a bad case of fallen arches in my feet, and also improved my eyesight by using Yoga exericses and the"Bates Better Eyesight Without Glasses" Method, respectively, so I do not need to be convinced of the efficacy of exercising, even of those parts of the body we might think impervious to exercise.<br /><br />I should mention thatI am 66 years old and last week I attended my husband's medical practice dinner and ball. I was at the top table, and was wearing a black satin (very full) strapless gown. And I didn't feel ashamed at doing it! I know I look great. My cheeks are full, and plumped, and my complexion is glowing like it did in my twenties. My eyebrows, at 66 are higher than they were at 26. I feel so triumphant about this. Of course, we all want to look our best, but when you please your husband so much that he raves about how your face looks- and what it does to your over-all appearance - then that is indeed happiness!! I am told over and over that I look 45. Of course I still have work to do, my chin isn't quite perfect yet, but I wouldn't want it any other way. I would be lost without my Eva Fraser exercises. Come on ladies, what have you got to lose! And, by the way, it works for men too!

Very good but not enough pictures

I love his programme and couldn't wait for the book but I was disappointed that there weren't more pictures to show you what clothes to wear rather than just describing them however it was still nice to read as Gok is so passionate.

wish I'd got this years ago

I found this book really helpful, My wardrobe was full of clothes that didnt do anything for me, I never knew what to put on in the morning, I got confused between style and fashion and just put on my safe clothes instead. This book helps you to bring out your own style and its so easy. I had the ultimate compliment from my husband, he said I looked good but it didnt look like I'd tried at all. I've been trying to do that for years (I'm 42!!)

Good Girly Read

I loved this book (a great follower of HRH's Trinny & Susannah, I thought I would never be convinced by any other stylists), but I have to say I was very impressed. If you put aside Zoe's constant need to impress her own lifestyle upon you as Gospel, then here is a book full of massive energy, great pics, great ideas and pure glamour. It wont change the world - but it might get you wearing gold when you used to wear silver, or flats when you used to wear heels. She makes you think about ALL the elements of a good outfit as a basic part of getting dressed in the morning - or, way in advance of an event (a great tip which i had never found the self-respect to do prior to reading this book - always running to a store to grab the outfit which would 'have to do'). I had never set foot in a vintage store until I read this book and I am a complete convert! My advice is to definately buy the Body Shape Bible in conjunction with this book, for serious perfect dressing!
