great book

I have read this book and it is great its has lots of great tips and good illustrations

This diet book is awful

I've always been big but my mum being welsh has always made cakes, baked bread always cooked rich roasts etc... So really its my mum's fault!
But I heard this was a good diet book and decided to buy it. Very disappointed, I wouldn't recommend this diet at all. She says as I'm overweight, and have oily skin, I have a diet too rich which is probably right. So I should remove poultry, carbs and all dairy products. I am now only left with vegetables. What can you cook with just vegetables?, hardly anything. I looked everywhere and i even asked my mum and she could only think of a few things - which actually tasted awful. This book isn't as good as expected and it isn't good for working mothers constantly on your feet. I advise you to go to your local Waterstones and look at it before you buy it. This book may be good for people wanting to lose a few pounds but not for people wanting to lose stones. Buy a better book. Many regards, Janie.

Rachel Zoe is my surprise new guru!

I dedided to buy this book as I love the way lots of Rachel Zoe's clients dress, although I had been mulling over the idea for a while - I thought that a book like this would give advice that would quickly date, or that I'd have heard lots of times before. When I received the book I actually couldn't put it down, and found that it was much more useful than I imagined.<br /><br />Rachel's advice is not just about dressing a certain way, its more about finding your own style that represents yourself, and injecting as much glamour as possible into our everyday lives. She makes you realise that you shouldn't feel guilty about wanting to look your best, and advises on everything from finding a 'red carpet' dress to having an inviting home. I like that there are sections on work and down-time dressing (as I think work and casual wear are more treacherous areas in reality than a big night out!) and I also like the VIP pages where some of her clients and fashion insiders give their hints and tips. It makes you realise that there is a lot of work that goes into looking great and that stars have to use hold-in pants too - they don't just wake up looking amazing! Maybe there is hope for us all!<br /><br />I think this book will be something I refer to time and time again whenever I need some inspiration on my look. I'd definately reccomend it if you like the signature Rachel Zoe"look".

Stunning

An excellent resource, full of the very best, older-style Japanese tattoos. Loads of colour photographs, excellent, informative texts.

Wickedly funny, utterly refreshing

Wickedly funny, utterly refreshing, perfect for anyone who loves fashion but who still has a proper sense of humour. Hadley Freeman writes with wit and style about the perils and delights of boots and bathing suits, the dos and don'ts of clutch bags and cleavages, the highs and lows of vanity (high) and velvet (definite, rock-bottom low). It's an absolute celebration of a world that is gorgeous and wonderful at the same time as being utterly ridiculous, and she captures its spirit perfectly - for example, in the affectionately scathing section on `Fashion speak' (in which `homage' is exposed as a blatant euphemism for `rip-off') or the bit on `Karl Lagerfeld, and why he's so wonderful' (number one being that he's so fantastically rude, although she puts it a bit more bluntly than that...). Sharp, chatty, slick and catty - an absolute blast of fresh air. I can't recommend this enough.

Loved it!

I was very excited when I found out about this book and could not wait to read it. Some of my friends said they were disappointed by it but I didn't listen because I admire Victoria Beckham and just couldn't believe them. I am glad I did not listen because I LOVED this book. It is very helpful and gives you an insight into what she has learned and what she recommends. It is an easy read. It's almost like you are having a conversation with her and I didn't want to put the book down because I was learning so much. At the end of each chapter there is a list of the best shops to find that item of clothing. <br /><br />Two words: READ IT!<br />

Loved it!

This is a great little book - I thoroughly enjoyed it, its full of sensible advice but is a real feel good read - I 'm sure I will refer to it over and over again. The perfect gift.

Can't wait for this book to come out in January!!!

There has been such a buzz around this book and I am so excited to pick up a copy when it comes out. I have worked with Bridgette Raes and her knowledge and amazing insight about what women should be wearing to flatter their bodies (and their flaws) is truly a gift! This book is going to help millions of women! Highly recommend picking one up...you won't regret it!

Splice a womans book of beauty with Vogue magazine and a bit of the Wisewomans guide to sex seduction and true love!

I have just recieved the book The Goddess Guide and i cant stop looking in it. like one of those old books full of cures spells and fortunes this show us the secrets to fashion ,good sex and what in vogue fron the creative heart of one's self!<br /><br />I want to buy this and gift it to every gal i know! Excellent, enchanting and vintage chic!

One Word: AWESOME!

I love this book!! I have been sooo addicted to it since I have gotten it. Yeah some of the ingredients can put a small dent in your pocket book, not a big dent a small one, and yeah some of the ingredients are hard to find, but it can be done! It is well worth it and I urge anyone to try it!!

Essential to get you through your NVQ 2

This book contains all the knowledge and information you need in order to pass your NVQ 2 Beauty Therapy successfully. In my opinion it is the most concise and well illustrated of the NVQ Beauty Therapy books.

I especially liked the simple step by step diagrams which helped with the more complicated areas of the syllabus. The content covers the syllbus fully but without going into too much detail on areas where in depth knowledge is not required.

I also liked the real photos featured which show a true to life illustration of what cn be achieved by beauty therapy treatments, this is also inspiring as it shows you what you the outcomes of the skill you will have learnt by the end of the course.

This book provides excellent revision material (there are short self assessments at the end of each section) and will act as an invaulable reference guide during and after you have finished your beauty therapy NVQ 2.

You don't have to loose weight or be rich to look great!

The best thing about this book is its overall message: you do not necessarily have to loose weight or be rich to look your very best on a day-to-day basis! Gok's approach is 'drink more water, eat more fruit&veg and take good care of yourself'- no diet fads or expensive plastic surgery (see '10 years younger'!) needed. The book focuses on different types of body shape (big bottom, big belly, no curves, too skinny etc.) and provides LOTS of helpful advice as to what to wear and (probably even more important) what not. The last chapters focus on underwear and general beauty routine. All of this is very helpful and the writing style is very similar to the tv show, very positive and encouraging, all about flaunting your best bits and keeping quiet about the rest. I can honestly say that I have never read such a positive book about this subject: Gok does not preach or patronize, but seems to really want to bring the best out in everybody. <br />The only shortcoming is a lack of photographs. It would have been nice to have more pictures accompanying the advice given in the text. But apart from that: absolutely recommendable!!!

A natty little book with a crap title.

i held little hope for this book 'cause of the title. Metrosexual. actually, if you bought it for that purpose (a style gide for metro's) you'd be dissapointed.<br />This is a quick modern book for how to be a man, a modern style man, with no farting about. it doesn't tell you where to go to have a peticure... it does make you aware they exist... and point out if you bother to have one, certainly don't go as far as getting clear nail polish!<br />it's a book of common sense and light advice on how to behave like a gent/decent human being.<br />It's not a life changer if you've already thought about reading it... but it's certainly a life sharpener.<br />Grab this book, a savile row suit and right tasty sort... sorry, lady. and have the time of ya life without being a snooty git.<br />more beckham than peckham and more bradly pitt than a pile of the proverbial.<br />and it's cheap tooo

Young at Heart!

Fab little book filled with great tips for anyone worrying about getting older! I really liked the tips on the best products to use to prevent further aging. It is easy to dip into at anytime with sections on makeup, products, do's and don'ts....the list is endless! I wish I had been given this book in my teens!

So far so good.....

Decided to give this book a go. What I like about it is the fact you have a section for everything - what is cellulite ? Before and after photos, suggested food for the month, salon treatments and excersise programme.<br /><br />Everything is reasonable or achievable. The food is not out of the ordinary so it's good on the purse, the exercises are not over powering or difficult and there are loads of hints and tips on creams and even advice on salon treatments if you budget allows. <br /><br />The before and after photos of people who have done this plan are encouraging and although only a week in I am seeing and feeling a difference.<br /><br />

A must have for most women

This was a very clear and frank book about clothing, underwear and shoes. What you should absolutely NOT wear and what would be best to wear for the slightly to more mature woman.<br />Looking around the streets I'd say it is a most welcome book with the right sort of information.<br />I learned lots and I am feeling much better out there now!
