Eclipse
This book is very interesting. It has an amount of 576 pages. The author is Stephanie Meyer.
The opening is very subtle because you don't know where they are. This is why I like it.
The plot was very secretive- I like it because it is in detail and has good descriptions.
I like the conclusion because it is a bit like a cliff hanger which makes you want to read the sequal.
The setting is in Forks- I like it because it is a small town with lots of action going on everywhere, and because it is exciting.
I like Bella because she has a hidden sense of humour. Also because she is mysterious. Her best friend is Jacob. Her boyfriend is Edward. Edward's family are Emmett, Rosalie, Jasper, Alice and his parents are Carlisle and Esme. Her friends are Angela,Ben,Mike and Jessica.
I like the words used because they are interesting. Some words ,I think, could have been upleveled.
My rating would be 9/10 .
The Return: Nightfall (The Vampire Diaries)

Our Price: £3.49
Used Price: £6.58
New Price: £3.38

Review:
Enjoyable enough read, but not the same
Just a few points:
- this is very different from the first Vampire Diaries series, LJ Smith drawing more on her Night World writing. The new supernatural beings and their background feature very heavily. And vampires don't feature other than the Salvatore brothers are vampires, there's no issue with the fact that they are
- it is also different in that there is no question of who Elena should be with. Only the once is it very briefly suggested that she might be more naturally suited to Damon yet it had already been made obvious that she and Stefan are soulmates
- there is little if no development of Bonnie, Meredith, Matt - which I thought was a shame, it became predictable and 'old'
- however, I did like reading it and found myself wanting to pick it up again after a few hours of putting it down as there was plenty of action, it was an enjoyable enough read
- I doubt I will buy the next two in the series to read, the synopsis doesn't interest me and I preferred the tension in the relationship of all three of them in the love triangle in the first series
- Hodder have proven awful as publishers, both with this book and the re-release of the original series in 2 vols. Typos and errors galore, I would not buy this book just on that basis and wait for a flawless (as it should be) second edition

The Struggle: Bks. 1 & 2 (The Vampire Diaries)

Our Price: £3.48
Used Price: £2.27
New Price: £2.80

Review:
Not as good as the series, but more readable than Twilight
I am a bit of a fan of vampire books, so naturally i read this one and after having read Twilight twice i can confidently say that it is better. There is much more going on in this book than twilight and not so much moaning and depression. however there is a downner and that is Elena as the character compared to the character portraied in the new current series.

Elena isn't portraied as the spoilt rotten girl in the series which really does give it the edge over the book. So i would recommend that people read the book first then get 'suprised' by the tv series!!
It is getting better!
I will read anything that has the words vampires/immortals and so on, this wasn't different but i found myself dragging through the first volume (1 and 2) until middle of volume 2 (3 and 4). However, I have to say that book 4 ended very nicely and now I'm looking forward to read fifth and sixth book. It's not the best of the books but it is ok!

Twilight (Twilight Saga)

Our Price: £3.44
Used Price: £1.05
New Price: £1.97

Review:
Bite me!.
Stephanie Meyer writes vampire fiction as many teenage girls do -- overblown writing, sexy cold vampires, and a vacuously attractive heroine who serves as the readers' stand-in.

And so it's hardly surprising that her mega hit debut"Twilight" is essentially a teenage fantasy about finding the Perfect Hot Immortal Coverboy Who Longs For You Alone. Innocuous sparkling vampires, buckets of pointless teenage angst and a plot tacked on at the last minute leave this one of the more bloodless examples of vampire romance.
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Our Price: £3.48
Used Price: £2.35

Review:
A fun read!
Percy Jackson is a troubled kid, his school record proves it - he's been through six schools in six years. Taking a trip with his mother after leaving his last school, Percy runs into yet more trouble which he escapes from with the help of his friend Grover. They make it to Half-blood Hill where Percy finds out he's not exactly the person he thought he was. He's the son of one of the Greek gods - but which one?

The story follows Percy, Grover and another half-blood, Annabeth, on a quest to stop a war between the gods. On their travels, the trio ensue a number of chracters from Greek mythology.

While not a literary masterpiece, this book is a fun read with some great ideas and, as far as I could tell, well researched in terms ofthe mythology (I'm not an expert on Greek gods, lol!). The characters are really likable and seemed well developed right from the start.

There's obvious similarities to the Harry Potter books but in my opinion that's not a bad thing as I love them! Some of the 'twists' were a little predictable but as an adult reading a children's/young adult book that's often the case anyway.

Looking forward to reading the next in the series.

Percy Jackson and the Titan's Curse

Our Price: £4.17
Used Price: £2.22

Review:
Percy Jackson: The Titan's Curse
I shall start this review differently to the others, with a suggestion:

Read the contents page.

Seriously. With chapter titles like"My Vice-Principal Gets a Rocket Launcher", they can be quite entertaining in and of themselves.

Book three in Rick Riordan's series brings in more elements of the Greek myths while also moving the overarching plot of the series nicely in a cross-country (and I mean that quite literally) trek to rescue Annabeth and Athena, both of whom have been taken by the Lord of the Titans, Kronos. But, with tragedy looming, who will make it back to Camp Half-Blood alive?

You don't have to be astute to realise that this is the third"kidnap someone Percy loves" plot in a row, but that gets nicely explained in the end, so I'll forgive Riordan just this once. Riordan continues to write the series with a clear plan in mind, and with his trademark humour and pace.

Overall, a excellent addition to the series.

Just read it! Actually read the series!
What an epic ending to series of books. Although the conclusion was predictable, there were so many twists and turns that I kept second guessing myself. I'm just hoping now that Rick Riordan's next series of Camp Half-Blood books will be just as thrilling!

I bought this wonderful book for my grandson as I remembered it being a real favourite with the children at the school where I used to work.
This particular copy is a board book. It is a good size and well-made so hopefully will last, as I'm sure it will be read many, many times.

Another winner from Julia Donaldson
Another fantastic children's book from the author of The Gruffalo. It's a great book with a lot of imagination and makes a super night time read. My son loves it and it is a pleasure to read - unlike some where you inwardly groan when he asks you to read them! Great pictures and rhyming stories makes it a great book that we will read over and over again without tiring. Highly recommended.
