Great book!!
This was my first book on soap making and i have found it excellent. The instructions are very easy to follow and all the recipes i have tried have worked out lovely. There is a good variety of recipes and it has been easy to find the ingredients. I would definately recommend this book for beginners, the information is very clearly laid out and easy to understand.43

Just what I wanted
Lovely photographs and great contents just about sums this book up. There is lots to inspire you in this book and I, being a novice, particularly found the Equipment & Techniques chapter very useful. The flowers and foliage chapter is also a good guide to what is available. There is a hell of a lot in this book and I think it is great value for money.47

I've made most of the models in this book, and I constantly refer to it for creating my own patterns. The writing is amusing and talks a bit about the author's life in rural Wisconsin. Charming and useful, this is one of my favorite knitting books.

So useful, a bit of everything for the kntiter
These patterns by the late, British-born American Mrs Zimmermann are sometimes plain-looking, but always clever in design and absolutely useful. Using the idea of a calendar, the author presents designs for each month of the year, from a round"Pi" shawl with options to add your own lace designs, to several baby items such as longies and a sweater, to hats, Christmas ornaments, a chain-mail patterned pullover and more.I've made most of the models in this book, and I constantly refer to it for creating my own patterns. My ceramic bible!!
This book has an incredible amount of information ranging from tools, basic techniques to alternative firing and kilns. This book has been so helpful to me as a student focusing on experimental work and new methods of decorating and gets your imagination going and motivation to create a new piece day in day out. I would recommend this book to new students and professionals alike. It is so good my university tutor looked through it and bought one of her own!49

A great introduction to bead and wire jewellery-making
This was the first book I bought on wirework - and I wasn't disappointed! The projects are gorgeous, the instructions easy to follow and easily adaptable.

I have used and adapted many of these designs to make happily received birthday and Xmas gifts!

The book has everything from Egyptian style earrings to Valentine's Day and wedding jewellery. The pictures are bright and attractive and best of all, the instructions are incredibly user friendly.

The basic materials are also extremely affordable (mostly glass beads and copper wire, as well as your regular beading tools) - no rubies or sapphires here!

Once you've mastered the techniques the world's your oyster!51

Doesn't really bend the rules...
I was excited about this book. I really was. I *love* Amy's blog and was eagerly anticipating the publication of her work. Unfortunately there isn't anything really novel in here, and it really doesn't bend the rules. The book's strength is in its beautiful photography and lovely textiles so if you're into eye candy, you won't be disappointed. But if you're really looking to 'bend the rules' be aware that this book probably won't hit the spot for you.52

I know several people who have started to fold, and been defeated by complicated or unclear instructions. When I lent them this set, they all progressed on to continued enjoyment of the craft.
If someone you know has expressed an interest in origami, then I would recommend this as a first step, multicoloured square paper is included (although it may be a little small for absolute beginners to use for the harder models)

Excellent For Beginners
This set was the second origami books I received, working through the easy book first really helps getting to know the basics, then you can progress on to the birds and Animals. The models themselves aren’t the most detailed or complex, but serve as an excellent primer in acheiving good results.I know several people who have started to fold, and been defeated by complicated or unclear instructions. A Very Useful And Informative Book
This is the third book I bought on soapmaking, by the time I bought it I had already made several batches of soap fom the other two books but was not satisfied with the results.
This book goes into more depth and is very interesting aswell! It contains everything you need to know in my opinion and has some very good supplier references. (All American but many ship internationally and have very good prices). It describes lots of ingredients and really helps you to make informed choices on what you are going to use in your own soaps.
I would recomend this book to anyone. I think the great thing about it is that you pick up so many small but very useful bits of infomation along the way to complement the basics, this filled all the gaps in my knowlege and gave me much more confidence.
By far my favourite book on soap making.54

Stitch your trash.
With a bit of imagination, Domestic Duchamps can use found and discarded materials for their embroideries. Recycling, thus, is not just for ethics but for aesthetics as well. Because, as presented in Creative Recycling in Embroidery, trash embellishes.
Here the Medium is the Message, and the focus is on the materials used to create a work of art---fruit netting, old clothes, fiber waste, candy wrappers, plastics and even soda cans.
Today, creatively speaking, there are new techniques possible due to new commercial products that can be used for fabric manipulation and"creative recycling" provides instructions on their use. Therefore, this book is especially helpful for those who like to experiment with new materials and processes. And in using discards, experimentation comes easier because you don't have to worry about wasting materials thus wasting money. Some instructions are given for patchwork, papermaking and papier-mache as well.
Finally, recycling has become fashionable!
56

EASY STEPS, NO MISTAKES
If you are willing to (re)decorete your own house and you are not a professional in the matter and you have a classic taste, this book is very good for you for it has easy tips and all the basic information that you need.
If you are an interior designer like me, with some work experience (maybe 5 years or more) you might be quite disappointed. Kelly Hoppen uses a classical style, neutral colours, symetry and repetition of elements. This is basically the way to make a good looking classic decoration with no risk at all. But if you like to take risks in your works and play with colours and styles, you better look for something else...58

For each mechanism, Mark Hiner discusses the technical considerations, what could go wrong and the 'do's and don'ts'. This is extremely useful and is almost as good as having Mark sat at the side of you. Mark also suggests possible uses for each mechanism which is a great help to those of us that are somewhat creatively challenged! I can thoughly recommend this book, my only grouse and it is an entirely personal one, is the format, which is landscape and I find this difficult to accomodate on my bookshelves without it looking untidy.

Excellent technical reference book for pop-ups!
Does exactly what it says on the tin! This book is entitled 'Paper Engineering for pop-up books and cards' and this is exactly what this book is all about. If you've ever wondered how those clever pop-up books and cards work, then this is the book for you! In the past, I have always had to re-engineer cards and books I have purchased in order to understand the mechanism behind the magic. Mark Hiner's book unveils these mysteries for you. This book is not a picture book but a 'how to do it' book. The book starts off by stating its purpose and then very briefly covers a bit of the history of 'pop-up'. It is clearly laid out and well organised with explanatory diagrams and notes. Ten mechanisms are discussed and card templates provided for all of them. The idea being that you use these templates to produce actual working models of each mechanism and store them inside the book for future reference. This way you get valuable 'hands on' experience and success is virtually guaranteed! An excellent way to learn about the way the body works...
Although the colouring book is primarily aimed at children, this book is a must for any medical or nursing student learning about the anatomy and physiology of the human body. The accurately illustrated drawings inwhich the functions, major systems and organs of the human body are laid out in the book, and the easy colour coding system used for each one, aids the learner immensely. I personally found that it helps the information to"sink in" easier through the unique and fun way this book is presented. Also, The 40+ plates are accompanied by brief straightforward summaries (wrote in plain English) about the pictures you are colouring in. Don't think this book is only for children, it can be used by anyone, young or old, for an enjoyable learning experience. Since getting the book myself, I have recommended it to other nursing students who have ordered it themselves. So get your crayons at the ready... and get colouring in!
