Delia's Bandwagon Book
This is Delia jumping on the Vegetarian bandwagon, thinking that she can do it right. The answer is an indigestible NO.

Not all Veggies can wallow in gluts of cream. Some of us are Galactosemic - no that does not mean we are Vegan, you can choose to be Vegan - but Delia wouldn't care about that.

This is a total rip-off. Avoid if you want to be healthy.83

OK, but....
There is a wealth of information in this chunky little book. I only gaive it three stars because I feel there are rather too many ready-made, branded foods listed because the label on such items would give all the information, anyway, so no need to look them up in a reference book.

Everything I eat I have created myself so I need calorie values of ingredients, not finished items. So I found I had to wade through ready-made, canned, etc before I find what I am looking for.

But for someone who has little idea of caorie values or needs a fuller list this would be a good little reference book to keep in the kitchen.84

Most of the people I eat with do not have Type O blood, and they set the menus. So unless I pay attention, my Type O needs are unmet. Basically, Type O people need to favor lean animal protein (avoiding pork), avoid dairy products (and take calcium supplements), have very little fat, stay far away from wheat, stop coffee, and watch anything that can make the body more acid.
Instinctively, this list made sense to me when I first saw it. The foods that I was supposed to avoid often made me feel ill, or have severe indigestion. But bread . . . oh, how I love bread. Dr. D'Adamo helped me realize that although I feel all right while eating bread, it really louses up my insulin levels so that I end up storing it as fat.
I expect that this book will help keep me on the straight and narrow (and away from that whole wheat bread that I love so much). I was recently reminded of the importance of this when I feared that holiday eating would cause me to gain weight. Actually, although I overate with lots of meat, I also skipped bread for several days. My weight actually dropped. Pretty nice, eh!
If you know someone who has Type O blood and doesn't eat like this, do them a big favor and introduce them to Live Right 4 Your Type. After they have read and understood that book, this one will serve as a good carry companion.
The same ingredients can make nutritious food as fertilizer . . . or create an explosive that will kill. So get the right ingredients for your body, and use them in the right way!

I thought that Eat Right 4 Your Type was a breakthrough book for me. Eating that diet caused me to lose weight and feel better. When Live Right 4 Your Type came out, I was even happier because the book contains a lot of information concerning the scientific studies that form the basis of the recommendations. Most of the people I eat with do not have Type O blood, and they set the menus. Helped 100% with my IBS
I was introduced to Nerys and India's diet by my daughter who had lost weight in the right places and was feeling it easy to stick to. I started on the diet with confidence and find I am losing weight steadily over 14 weeks and have lost a stone - I find that my IBS which has made my life difficult for the past 12 or so years has almost completely disappeared and I no longer have to carry immodium - I suffered from very embarrassing wind which has cleared and although they did say in the book that this probably would happen I didn't really believe that it would. I intend to stick to their eating plan for life but will of course stray just a little on holidays or what ever - it has certainly helped me considerably.87

What a Wonderful Book Its FAB!!!!!
I am what you may call a healthy eating exercising freak. I buy lots of exercise dvds and healthy eating books, but very rarely find one I can read from cover to cover. I found this book very easy to read and Gillian's story (preface) at the beginning is extremely inspirational and gave me a good feeling about her from the start. Her book is filled with expert advice that really works if you are self-disciplined and you use it to the letter. Everything she suggests is for the best health reasons and really improves your well-being. She offers good advice on everything from your 'five a day' to detox. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT IS EXACTLY RIGHT: I WAS A CAKE AND NOW I'M A LETTUCE LEAF!88

I am delighted with this book. Started off with the walnut & raisin cakes - actually dates, almonds, walnuts, raisins. My husband loves them so I make double batches every few days, and it stops him eating choc bars! Cucumber soup for dinner guests was next - absolutely delicious, one I intend to make again and again. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with the photos or the book itself. All looks fine to me. Thoroughly recommend it. Am looking forward to trying out some more recipes.89

Us Brits have done it so badly! Time to get 'French'...
What a delight this book is: timely, savvy and witty, showing everyone (particularly us flabby Brits) where we've been going wrong for so long! Mireille's observations and advice brim with logic and joie de vivre, so far from feeling (too) humiliated I am keen to take many of the 'French' suggestions on board. A woman could do much worse than keep this in her (petite et jolie) tote, referring to it if and when she needs a little feminine nudge in the right direction. Merci Mireille, et Salut!90

Excellent recipes for the newly converted
The recipes in this book are truly brilliant. As a new convert from meat I had concerns that I wouldn't be able to stay on the wagon, being forced to eat tasteless and boring food. Having read this my opinion has changed, with many diverse options all so far proving to be tasty and filling. I heartily recommend this book to anybody hoping to change their food habits in an animal friendly way.91

wonderful
Basically, I was only diagnosed with PCOS a few months ago and I didn't really act on it, my doctor didn't even really know anything about it and he gave me a couple of sheets that he had about PCOS, I went back to the doctors and he did refer me to a specialist, she was a gynecologist but she actually specialised in PCOS. They gave me a few pointers on how I should be eating a low GI diet, gave me the option of going on the pill (which I declined) blah blah blah, but really I don't tend to actually eat very unhealthily anyway and I do a reasonable amount of excercise, but yet I am about a stone and a half over weight, for a anyone else, the diet I eat and the exercise I do, they would be a go0d weight I would imagine, as all of my friends eat worse than i do and don't do anywhere near as much exercise yet they are all like a size 8. I bought this bo0k and another bo0k by colette harris and dr adam carey which was just about PCOS because I felt that what the professionals had told me and what I had found on the internet wasn't quite enough, and both of the bo0ks really helped with my understanding of what PCOS actually is, and how I can work on it. Things are lo0king up at last!

so yes it is a must have for anyone experiencing PCOS because this bo0k will help to combat the symptoms so it will help you fight against acne, obesity, irregular periods, excess hair, hair loss all that jazz.92

to be exactly what is happening in the fitness industry these days. I
was pleased to hear of a new book on the market titled,"Dumbbell
Training for Strength and Fitness ” by Matt Brzycki and Fred Fornicola.
At a time when the industry has become thick with convolution, Brzycki
and Fornicola have cut through the complexity to bring both the beginner
and advanced trainer back to school.
Almost lost in the shuffle of contemporary training technology, the book
resurrects the basic dumbbell to its rightful position as a very
effective workout tool. In researching my own book, I was led to
interview co-author Fred Fornicola - the editor of the
growing on-line"High Performance Training" newsletter. Fornicola
stressed the emphasis of safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in the
training protocols he and Brzycki present in their work.
With decades of training experience between the two athletes/authors,
they had no difficulties collecting contributions from almost two dozen
prominent strength coaches in the industry who share common ground in
the many philosophies of strength training. Brzycki and Fornicola cement
this dumbbell training commonality in a bed of solid coaching
information for the rank beginner to the advanced trainer.
This is definitely not a book out to simply try to please everyone. The
authors are not afraid to challenge some current sacred ground endorsed
by many in the coaching field. The controversial applications of sports
specific training, explosive training, and training in an unstable
environment are examined for soundness and validity. The dumbbell may
not be extravagant in its appearance, but its practicality as a very
effective training tool can be traced back centuries, even as far back
as the Greeks. Our modern day Iron Game pioneers of this century also
benefited tremendously from dumbbell exercise, and were training the
muscles of the trunk long before"Core and Functional Training" became buzz words.
This book should be in the library of every serious trainer out there
working in the industry. Matt Brzycki and Fred Fornicola have done a great
job in simplifying the unnecessarily complex views of today ’ s “ trends ” and collapsing the time required to produce fantastic results with such minimal equipment. The book is excellent, the timing is right; the price is an insult to
the experience of these two men. Good work Matt and Fred!

The New High Protein Diet Cook Book
This is an excellent book full of delicious and simple recipes. It has helped me to lose nearly 2 stone and far more easily than any other diets that I have tried, because I have rarely felt hungry.
This book is nice and easy for the British market. Many of the books in this area are American, so you have to convert all the measurements which I find too much hassle. The ingredients are all found in our supermarkets
The meals are perfect for all the family (I just add rice etc for them)
It would however have been nice to have had a few pictures of the recipes.95

But is there more to it than that? Dr Batmanghelidj thinks there iis. I found this book by accident when I was trying to find out just WHY water is supposed to be good for you, and I was riveted from the first page. It’s easy to be sceptical of anyone so enthusiastic, but, if Dr Batmanghelidjhe is right, then far too many people are taking medication for problems such as high blood pressure and raised cholesterol, when all they really need to do is to drink a lot more water.
I don’t suffer from either of those conditions myself, thankfully, but since I started taking the book’s advice and drinking at least two litres of plain water each day, I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my energy levels. It’s often hard to keep to this regime when I’m away from home, and I really notice the difference – even when I’m on holiday, I get fatigued much more easily when I drink less water.
My one criticism of this book is that there is not enough independent confirmation of the many fascinating anecdotes. I guess the idea of water being a cure-all is too dangerous for the pharmaceutical companies’ profits and too naive for most doctors!

Water, water everywhere - but do we drink enough?
In the west, most people drink little or no water, and often do drink lots of dehydrating liquids such as coffee or alcoholic drinks. The health pundits tell you to drink more without being very clear on why. And if you’ve ever tried to lose weight, you’ll almost certainly have been urged to drink lots of water - as my mother used cynically to say, ‘ to fill you up ’ .But is there more to it than that? this book makes you wanna cook!
wow! i've got numerous vegan cookbooks, some of which contain the odd valuable recipe, but this is something else. every recipe sounds delicious and they are by no means hard to make. although quite a few of the recipes have fairly long prep times, they are definately worth it. my omni boyfriend is even impressed at his delicious vegan dinner. one really good thing about this book is that at the beggining there are a couple of chapters on how to cook a grain, how to cook a veg, and descriptions of different equipment you may need. recipes include something for every occasion. Those from the mix and match section are my personal favourites.
so if you are a vegan and need help sorting out your diet and your kitchen this is the book for you. i feel like i'll never need to buy another cookbook again!98

LIFE CHANGING
I have been on every diet available - they all work for a few weeks but are not healthy and you just pile the pounds back on. They are also complicated ie. different colour days, point counting, calorie counting etc.

This book is brilliant - I read it on the train a month ago and have already lost 6lb. It is easy to use, fits into a handbag(!) and is practical. The receipes are ok but as usual they are not practical after a day at work. However, you can adapt this diet to any lifestyle and the results really do happen.

I am three stone over weight and love wine and chocolate and have no will power. This book IS DIFFERENT and it does work - I don't miss any of the old foods99

One of my favourites
This book sets out to give recipes that are nutritious. This sounds dull, but actually the food is very good and the little bits of information about minerals and vitamins in food were very useful. I like cooking, and this is a 'cook's book'; she gives little tips on cooking, and - as a fairly experienced cook - I did find them helpful. Yes, she does tell you to roast and grind your cumin, but one can always take short cuts. Preparation does not take ages. Frying in a skillet is the norm, but then how would you get an intense flavour without it? The beauty is that there are no tins of condensed soup etc (well, yes in the tuna casserole, but I forgive her that). This is proper, healthy food. The one element that didn't suit me was the enormous vegetarian and vegetables section, but there are still lots of recipes apart from those. And lovely large print. Highly recommended
