Essential reading for all new (and old) writers

This is the single most valuable, and important source of advice on writing that money can buy. Brande's book is ageless, and will serve you well througout your career. A quiet masterpiece.

Excellent!

I'm studying Spanish with Open University, am currently between courses and needed something to keep me going and practising between them! I ordered this book not realising how much I would benefit from it. It explains things in detail and keeps it interesting. There are plenty of exercises per section and really helps things stick in your mind without having to just read and read over the same thing!<br />Would definately recommend this book if your learning Spanish on your own or if like myself are studying in school/ uni!!

Great as a refresher too

I did French up to BA level (reading French literature in the original) but that was some years ago and I haven't used my French since. Wanting to pick it back up again I scoured the web for a good refresher and finally settled for this both because of the good reviews and because at this price it wouldn't be a huge loss if it were useless - but I'm delighted to say it's not.<br /><br />Clear, concise, with vocabulary lists and exercises this really is a fabulous book. So far the exercises are too basic for me, but looking ahead I can see they're going to prove really useful soon.<br /><br />This isn't a stand-alone book (as the title says): you do need either a proper French course-book or to be having lessons at the same time. But if you're looking for a supplementary grammar text or, like me, you've learnt French before but have forgotten it (and I'm amazed at how much is still embedded in my head) then this is a fabulous buy and I can't really imagine anything better.

Must buy if your a Spanish language beginner

Great product. I haven't had this product for long but I have picked up Spanish necessities very quickly. Highly recommeded.

great exercises!

I own Practice Makes Perfect along with Smart Spanish and Collins, and I found that the combination was a good one: SmartSpanish - Introduction to Spanish, Vol.1 adds great tips on pronunciation to their brilliant explanations of the structure of the language, while Easy Learning Spanish (Collins Easy Learning Audio Course) makes you master useful basic sentences, and Practice Makes Perfect: Complete Spanish Grammar (Practice Makes Perfect Series) teaches you with excellent exercises . All three are awesome together.

the best self-study english course ever! I highly recommend it to all those who are interested in learning the english language accurately, however the topics covered in the textbooks are outlined in a very easy-to-understand manner. EFL teachers can draw useful additional grammar exercises from this book, too.

A dissertation book every one must have

This book has become invaluable as a guide to writing my dissertation and should be a must for any one either currently doing a dissertation or will be doing one soon. <br /><br />This book is packed with excellent advice and helpful tips and is easily understood.

We love it.

Love the music. So cheerful to listen in the car. Bought for my boyfriend. As a native speaker, I can tell the pronuciation is good and clear. The content is very useful. The language used in it is modern and updated. Very good for beginners. So much better than those old versions I borrowed from my local library.

Learning French

I would highly recommend Michel Thomas as a way of learning. His voice is boring but his method is very effective.

Excellent beginers book easy to follow Plus you get 2 cd's with the book to help you even more<br />The only down side is the music used on the cd's between excises

Barron's 501 Spanish Verbs

The book is fantastic and just what I needed for my course in Spanish. The key to the language is learning the verbs and tenses and this book is a great help. The book arrived within a couple of days - great service.

I got the book for my in-law, and its proved to be most helpful in his preparation for the IELTS exams.

Spanish Pronouns and Prepositions

This does exactly what it says, Practice Makes Perfect - Excellent for anyone learning Spanish - the drills give you practice and the confidence to progress.

Very good practice tool

I'm teaching English at the moment and have recommended this book to my students, as well as using it myself. I've found it a good tool for further practice after classes.<br /><br />The explanations of usage are clear and there are sufficient exercises which are of great help.<br /><br />This is a good place to start for building up grammar practice.

french success at only £4.50

This book has really helped me in my study of french and makes revision much easier. Grammar points are explained simply, and this is what lets you make up your own sentences and get the top marks. the revision questions at the end of each section reinforce what you have learned and let you know what you need to go back over. all this at a reasonable price, definately worth the money.

Jolly Stories (Jolly Phonics)

A Great book to teach your child the sound and the way the letter should be written with a raised letter to race over with your finger. Also have the Jolly Songs (Jolly Phonics) that also is a great way to teach your child the sound of letters.

One of the best grammars available. For years i have relied on this book for my translation doubts, and this is the third copy i have bought.

Confidence builder

The short course is a good introduction to learning Spanish. Michel Thomas concentrates on the right pronunciation and short explanations. You start to use quite long sentences very quickly. The course left you wanting to learn more. I was not used to learning without writing something down but it worked well and built my confidence. I started without any knowledge of Spanish. I would certainly recommend it for an introduction to a new language.
