Outstanding
It was only by chance that I discovered Haruki Murakami - I was sitting opposite a man on a plane and he was reading"Norwegian Wood" - I could see he was totally engrossed, unaware of what was going on around him so next day I bought the book and quickly understood why the man on the plane didn't even eat his meal!! <br />Since then I've read most of Murakami's books and loved every one of them but for me<br />"What I Talk About.." is a masterpiece - the way in which he describes his feelings/moods is inspiring. In all fairness we must also praise the tranlator for his excellent style of writing.<br />Mark6

Yoga for Real Life
I am no newcomer to the world of Yoga, and love it with a passion. There are many, many types of Yoga of course, but I had never considered Kundalini Yoga for me as I always thought it too difficult. This book opened my eyes. It is a beautiful book, full of loving advice and written by somebody who really wants to help make your life take an interesting and loving direction.8

Yoga Anatomy
I have found this book to be very advantageous and explanatory. What drew my attention to this book was the information it gave about the muscles used in the various positions of yoga. I find this book would be helpful to both the experienced and the beginnerand recommend that you take the time to read it thoroughly to get the best out of the detailed information it provides. I use the book daily for my morning meditation and yoga routine and would also recommend Lindsay Wagners 'Open to Oneness' meditation cd Open To Oneness for the background music as it creates such a relaxing atmosphere within the room.<br />9

Getting a Hot Sexy Body with Jillian Michaels
<br />If you're looking for a step by step workout, then this is the book for you. <br /><br />You definitely need to be at a good fitness level before you begin the program and that is mentioned at the beginning of the book. Jillian works on both nutrition and exercise. Her nutrition plan is extremely detailed, down to each person's calorie allowance. She also provides 30 full day menus with recipes. The workouts are very intense, telling you to workout 5 times a week for 40 minutes. Some of the exercises are quite complicated but Jillian provides full descriptions and photographs.<br /><br />Jillian also discusses the pros and cons of various weight loss supplements.<br /><br />Overall this is a good book. <br />10

up up and away!
I've just written a detailed review for the DVD, but have come here because I bought this book years ago when I was sixteen/seventeen. I did one or two of the exercises didn't like the fact that there were no before/after photo's, got bored and tossed it aside! I threw it out a year or so ago as it had gone yellow from too long sitting on a window sill and the pages were loose. I wish I'd taken more care of it as I have seen a great improvement in the three months that I've been using the DVD and am seriously considering buying the book again for the more advanced exercises! The changes have been minimal to my eyelids but excellent in my cheeks and lower face/jaw line. I don't remember if there are exercises for ridding the forehead of fine lines in this book, and hopefully there will be something on lifting that same area - I can't remember. Am so glad the idea of botox is a distant memory.11

Wainwright guides
This was a Christmas present for my husband. He was a keen cyclist in the north of England in his earlier days and used these guides a lot. He didn't have any copies left so when I saw this edition I knew I had found something he would really like. He does like them and they are being used though now in a nostalgic way and just to jog his memory.12

Worth every penny!
Possibly the best book in my collection - being spiral bound it means the pages won't come off as easily as they did in my other books!<br /><br />It's a very comprehensive book, it teaches you the breathing technique, it has modified postures for beginners and best of all, it has 3 condensed sessions at the end, so if you don't have a lot of time you can do do the short forms of 15, 30 or 45 minute sessions.<br /><br />I also recommend getting the video by David Swenson Ashtanga Yoga The Practice (First Series) - the two together are great for people who want to practice at home.15

Finally a great book on diet, the only book you will ever need.
Every so often in life you need someone to come along and point out the strikingly obvious. This person is Mark Sissons, and returning to the diet that nature intended is so simple and yet so profound. The simple logic behind the book is hard to ignore, it really strikes a chord with any one who reads it. I have been reading about diet and nutrition for the last ten years and find this the most comprehensive, well rounded and accurate book to date. The diet and exercise principles are simple and easy to stick to and, like they all try to say, this one is actually a lifestyle not a diet. If you need proof just compare a picture of Mark Sissons (55) or Arthur De Vany (73) with your average nutritionist and you'll soon see what really gives you long term results, all round health and longevity.18

Great book if your mind is getting in the way...
I bought this book for my mother as she is attempting the London marathon for the first time at 50, and so far she has found it very helpful. It focuses a lot on the psychology of training and thinking positively as well as offering a training schedule, so if you just want a training plan with none of the extras you might be better off choosing a different book. However so far it seems to be working for her (a non-runner) as she is training well and looking forward to it so I thoroughly recommend it.20

Compelling
I have never read a book ostensibly about a sport that I couldn't put down. It's given me hope that I can actually run without injury if I do it how we were intended to.
