I gave this book to a friend for her 21st Birthday. She continues to rave about the delicious cakes she has made from this book. She is cooking her way through the whole book!! A"must buy" for cooks who love baking and serving delicious cakes.

Must Buy

I have got my copy already and I must say it is fantastic. I read it cover to cover in almost one sitting (except the recipes, though these look good too). John Wright makes the whole thing seem like so much fun and it is a very funny read. It covers just about everything you could find to eat in the wild (except mushrooms and some of the seashore plants) with about sixty species covered and describes the most serious poisonous species you could mix them up with. The bit about the law was very interesting - and funny, and, like the rest of the book, goes into lots of useful detail. If you are interested in wild food this book tells you everything you want to know and is an all time"must buy".

Tested by my baby granddaughter

I gave it to a daughter-in-law for her first baby; she found it so helpful that I immediately got a second for another daughter-in law. Two happy babies.

What a fantastic book

Easy to follow recipes, amazing combinations of everyday ingredients (apart form the odd obscure spices, not easily available in your average supermarkets). Each recipe works a treat. This really is book of the year for me. Anyone who tastes the food always asks about it.....a true winner.

A really good book to own for those wanting to learn the basics of foraging. It has plenty of photos and is well laid out. It's a bargain price too.

very disappointing!!

I'm a great fan of simple cooking.Cooking with few ingredient that you can buy in the shop around the corner is my idea of perfection. When I bought this book,I was expecting recipes where you put very few ingredients in a pot and forget everything else.Well, turned out you need to put things in pots ans pans and then add more things or bake them and then use the slow cooker and do something else.On the top of that,the list of ingredients is very large (12 or 15 by average).I will have to wait for Nigella to publish a slow cooking book...

Such a good, helpful, inspiring book...

Highly recommended book, so many of the tips are practical and inspiring. Excellent recipes with useful pictures and offering possible ways of developing them to suit your tastes or cupboard/garden. Best in the series from the River Cottage Handbooks range.

Simple meals for one person

This is written for students but has excellent simple meals for one person which is great. It has a lot of variety and the meals are cheap and very tasty. I would recommend this to anyone living on their own.

My favourite cookbook!

My mum bought me this book and it has turned out to be my favourite cookbook. I have made several of the recipes and they have all turned out wonderfully and the whole family love them. I've also tried a recipe from the Hummingbird Bakery's cookbook and there is no comparison - these cupcakes were flat and didn't even taste that good, so I'm sticking with the Primrose Bakery!

Simply delicious

Since buying this cook book in January it has inspired me to vary the meals I cook during the week. I have a large number of cook books which I regularly turn to for special meals and dinner parties. This however is the first book I have used frequently for everyday meals. These recipes don't have too many ingrediants and are not complicated, but the results are simply delicious. Many of the recipes are already firm favourites, and I have cooked them for friends and family, who have gone out and bought this book and are now making these recipes for their friends.<br /><br />I am still discovering new delights and this book has yet to be put away on the shelf. I would heartily recommend it.

Easy to follow

gives you a simple exercise routine,and anyone can exercise for 8 minutes a day. Good recepies. Its the principles of the book that you need to take on and then adapt to your lifestyle.<br />Easy to follow tables of bad, better , best food. Also provides trhe same for drink for those (most of us) who canot give up alcohol for good.<br /><br />One of the best and easiest exercise and diet books I've used.

Great book!

Really useful, makes perfect sense!!! Excellent, detailed explanation of baby led weaning. Quickly read, though boring novel style print (lack of entertaining layout).

Good Book at a Good Price

Loads of slightly different recipes, something for every occasion, in this publication. Well worth the investment

Love it!

We have had this book only a few weeks and have already tried a couple of the recipes. The basic ice cream base is so easy and quick to make (very dangerous!) and using the whole egg recipe means I don't have to think what to do with the egg white as so many other recipes are for the egg yolk only. I can't wait to try the chocolate ice cream recipes!! The only downside to this book is that it's all American and in cups for measuring but that is relatively easy to convert and find alternative ingredients.

Absolutely first class cook book for family & friends

I actually saw an couple of the recipes from Sarah Raven's new book Food for Friends and Family in a magazine and I was so impressed with it. So impressed that my husband immediately cooked the Chicken Stuffed with Garden Herbs the very next night and it was absolutely delicious. Fuelled by a love of good food, I then purchased the book and am in love with it. Even more lovely recipes to try. Ideal for entertaining friends and family.
