This book really scared me.
It scared me so much i had to leave it, take a break from it, and start reading another book, to take my mind off it. I never went back to it - i was too nervous. I don`t see how any of this could possibly be made up or `fixed` by the children. There were adults in the house all the time, and cameras etc. If these kids managed to fool all the experts involved then they must be exceptionally clever, or the experts must be exceptionally dim. They all saw the child being thrown onto the bed. You can`t fake that. The part that frightened me the most was when the girl saw the man looking at her over the top of the bedroom door. He was so big his head just looked over the top and he stared at her. That freaked me out. This is a very scary read, and whether you believe it or not is up to you, but it`s definately worth the money - unlike some of the rubbish they try to pass off as `ghost stories`.3

Top-Notch Ghost Stories!
The Ghost Next Door is a wonderful little collection of true American ghost tales. The stories contained within its pages are fresh, entertaining, and quite eerie. A splendid pre-bedtime read. Unlike many books in this category, this one isn't watered down with irrelevant background information. The author does us a favor by getting to the heart of the matter in each story. And what intriguing matters they are! I highly recommend this title. A wonderful addition to any collection.4

Brilliant Must Have Read
This is a fantastic book to read. I have been very interested in ghosts since an early age and have a vast collection of books on this subject and i think this book is the best by far out of all of them.
A big thumbs up to the Author of this book, he has written this book very well and its nice to see a book with new locations being written about.
I will most definately be visiting as many of the locations in this book as i can, to try and find the ghosts for myself.
I would recommend this book for anybody who is interested in this subject.5

I thought this was a pretty good book, and it was well written. There's a lot of detail about all the experiences, which is interesting, and the author did find out quite a bit about her 'ghosties'. Good book, worth buying.7

Another success from a true great.
There is an honesty and sincerity about Mia Dolan that i can't help but like. In this book there are nine chapters, seven of which relate to each particular haunting covered in the series (and the families invoved). The last chapter is pretty much an additional case that was too late for the series but Mia gave the case her immediate attention despite having a heavy work load. The last chapter (or haunting) was my favourite and highlights how ignorance, or the inability to take a look at yourself first can cause problems for these families living in volatile situations.
The most annoying thing (or person) that i found actually watching the series prior to this book was the man himself Chris French; talk about thinking INSIDE the box. Just because you are a professor and have a degree (or two)it doesn't give you the right to insinuate that people are lying, or have weird imaginations, or are indeed close to insanity.10

I was given is book for christmas 2006 and I had read it by Boxing day. It contains short ghost stories, nearly all have been visited by the Most Haunted or Ghost town team. A lovely stocking filler and a enjoyable read11

Read this before the ghost tour!
An excellent book, very easy to read. Gives a good historical background on the cemetary, events that have happened there and details on the poltergeist activity recorded. Many anecdotes from people that have visited the cemetary. It's a good idea to have a read of this book before you consider taking part in the ghost walk that goes hand-in-hand with it, as you will get to know what to possibly expect (especially good if you're a bit of a nervous person).

Chambers treats this true story in a novel-like fashion, unfolding the plot in chronological order. That said, he still manages to keep it factually correct and does not stray too far into the realm of speculation. The copious notes at the end of the book list his sources in minute detail; this is a nice touch and adds academic weight to the book.
In summary, I found this to be an easy and engaging read that was difficult to put down. The story and its cast of eccentric characters are fantastic. Highly recommended.

Re: Strange but True!
Paul Chambers's latest tome is undoubtedly his best so far. This book tells the story of a bizarre scandal that had London in uproar in 1762. At the centre is a rather vain and naive young man named William Kent from Norfolk who seems to have had a habit of getting young girls pregnant. Unfortunately for him he managed to impregnate two sisters from the same rich family and fled to London where he underwent a series of adventures that made him more enemies. I won't give the plot away too much, but William eventually found himself being accused of murdering a former lover by a ghost that appeared nightly in Cock Lane, much to the delight of the London mob. However, the ghost appreared to have strong connections with William's enemies suggesting that it was part of a plot against him. Trying to prove who was behind the scam necessitated the involvement of Dr Samuel Johnson and other luminaries leading to a climatic confrontation.Chambers treats this true story in a novel-like fashion, unfolding the plot in chronological order. Review:
But it turned out to be an excellent book that approaches the subject from a very informed and well-researched angle. It's an easy read that explains what ghosts are and how best to experience them. There is an overview of environmental factors that influence ghostly activity and a very good listing and analysis of equipment that could help with ghost-hunting.
The author assumes the reader already believes in ghosts so there are no pages wasted with unnecessary justifications of the subject/book. But everything that is written has an explanation behind it so you don't feel that you are being asked to believe things on faith. His focus is thoroughly analytical and based on the appreciation of the"science" of ghosts - electro-magnetic energy, temperature fluctuations etc. There is a very strong emphasis on looking for the obvious first before leaping to a ghostly conclusion.
There is a lot of information in this book that makes it an interesting and exciting read. Well worth buying for anyone with an interest in ghosts and the paranormal (not just ghost-hunters).

Don't Call Them Ghosts - A Beautiful Story
If you like a good ghost story but also hold a great interest in spirituality and the unexplained then this book is for you. It was very easy to become hooked reading this book and i finished it within two days, i needed to know the conclusion and fate of the children in the attic. I felt like i went through the jouney with Kathleen as she wrote this, she has a wonderful heart and three extra children live in there.
18

Review:
Unfortunately most of the book was taken up by relaying well known ghost stories about famous haunted places.
There are a few (but obvious) ghost hunting tips, such as take a torch and camera !
The book very briefly touches on different forms of spirit contact in laymans terms ie: ouiji boards, table tipping, but doesn’t go in depth at all.
Also some of Dereks own stories from giving people readings- none were terribly interesting or entertaining.
I disliked Dereks constant referring to his"Tv work" and his"other book" throughout the book- it just seemed he was always trying to sell and prove himself.
A boring and disapointing read.
Derek fans might disagree, but I learned nothing new or interesting from this book.

Entertaining and of high quality
This is a very enjoyable book. The photos are varied and highly intriguing. A few are famous ones and one or two thought to be fakes, whereas others are simply mysteries, with it seeming highly likely in many that a ghost really has been caught on film. The narration is excellent too; just the right length to read bit at a time, with intelligent analysis and historical background. All in all this is a super book and one which turned out to be even better than I had expected. Great fun, and eerie to boot!
