Loved it, intriging, witty and well-written
I loved this book. Will Storr has a great sense of humour and approaches his subject with the kind of 'sceptic with the door ajar' attitude I really appreciate when reading anything about the supernatural. This book is genuinely scary, fascinating and funny by turns with a lot of tongue in cheek, 'read between the lines'style of humour. Highly recommended!26

weird and wonderful
Having bought haunted liverpool 2 while in Liverpool I enjoyed it so much that I bought this editon back in london (where I live). HL6 is more of the same it is a weird and wonderful collection of creepy tales related to Liverpool, well written and very descriptive you are easily able to build a picture of the characters in your mind. It won't help you sleep any easier but HL6 is well worth a look for true believers....27

factual but a little dissapointing
Dont read if your looking for a scare, if your interested in the paranormal then do. The author's state its writen this way to keep it real and not over dramatised. Its so fatual that theres no scares and the family seem to cope with things that should normaly leave people screeming. I have to admit I bought it for a scare I was sadly dissapointed. Ohh and one final note the supposed reason for the haunting's is over used and repeated through out many horror stories and very lack lusture it doesnt make you believe it and leaves you with too many questions.28

Unbeatable read!
If you are interested in the Paranormal and want a book that contains a full scope of useful information, written in a way that is enjoyable to read and easy to follow, this is your book! It does not use a whole list of complicated scientific words throughout, but still manages to contain all the information you require without losing anything. I would highly recomend this book and other by Loyd Auerbach to and budding ghost hunter or parapsychologist!29

Excellent - full of surprises!
As part of one of my research projects, I came across Supernatural Peak District. A rather weighty book (192 pages), it's absolutely packed with information. I've read several books on the same topic now, and yet this one still managed to teach me something I didn't know. It did repeat some legends I'd heard before, but with a great deal more information and with lots of first hand witness accounts. It was enough to make me want to hide under the duvet come lights out time!<br /><br />Joking apart, though, this is an incredibly well-researched book which is very easy to read and digest and has some beautiful accompanying photographs. It's a very informative book for anyone researching local history, or just those interested in the supernatural. Be warned though, it'll probably put you off camping in the Peak District!<br />30

Great Read
This is the third book I've read by Derek Acorah, (previously read Extreme Psychic and <br />Amazing Psychic Stories). <br /><br />This is basically about what went on during the first season of Ghost Town; you could say it's the series in writing with the odd still photograph.<br /><br />Although I really enjoyed this book, I enjoyed the previous two a lot better. <br /><br />Just wish my local library had had a copy, would have saved me money, it's not a book I'd read again. :-(<br />31

Possibly the best ghost books in existence
All of this series is gripping and instructive. They really make you think about the nature of reality, the nature of humans and the ways of the world. Not only are the ghost stories sometimes VERY scary, the books really open your mind to other perspectives, and treat people in them with respect and compassion. I am from Widnes, so know Liverpool fairly well, but I think anyone anywhere can enjoy this series. I only hope Tom Slemen continues writing them.33

A book to laugh over then in the next breath cry you eyes out. A throughly interesting, easy read which gives you a glimpse into a world of mediumship that is not very often spoken about. I am very sceptical when it comes to ghost stories but the way this book is written makes it interesting even for people who don't believe in ghosts. Not only does it thrill you with tales of the spirits of Guildford it gives you an insight into the colourful history of some of the towns buildings. It is also full of photographs and illustrations of the haunted locations. <br /><br />Discover the identity of the mysterious lady in grey seen around Tunsgate; learn about where Guildford's criminals were detained and executed and just how many ghosts there are in the Kings Head; possibly the towns most haunted building. I found it very hard to put down and it made me want to attend the Guildford ghost tour so I could hear more from the very talented Philip Hutchinson. A must for anyone living in guildford or for that matter anyone with an interest in ghosts. <br /><br />35

thoughful and entertaining read
This is a well laid out book using some impressive photography and is written to please the expert and the layman. Each section in the book deals with certain aspects of the supernatural such as mediums, well known ghosthunters and some of the more famous ghost photos.<br /><br />It is always good when a book such as this has many photos of ghosts and one chapter is dedicated to examining the many different ghostly images that have been captured down the years. Their is also famous stories of poltergiests and hauntings such as amityville examined more closely.<br /><br />Its all laid out in a way that will attract the most unwilling of readers and the biggest sceptic, and is an entertaining read for someone interested in or new to the genre.37

A great read!!
What a brilliant book this is! A truly fascinating read. I recommend this to anyone who's interested in ghost hunting or ghosts in general. I first came across Jason Karl after seeing"Most Haunted" on Living tv, and having enjoyed the show so much I decided to investigate the field of ghosts etc. a little more.<br /><br />The book is filled with information, and goes into detail about the different stages of ghost manifeastation, the various different types of ghost (some of which I had never heard of). As well as going through various haunted locations throughout the country.<br /><br />It has definitely been written by somenone who's been there, and knows what he's talking about. Covers all the bases
Jim Clark has written a detailed history of the ghosts and hauntings of South London. This is a useful guide to a number of locations and traditions, with map and bibliography covering all the bases. <br />Well worth the money.
