Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
What can I say? This purchase was to replace a copy lent to someone and not returned. I have just re-read the whole series and despite being a pensioner, I think J.K. Rowling's creation is absolutely marvellous. The continuity throughout the seven books is faultless.44

J.K Rowling another triumph
A very good accompaniment to the Harry Potter series - the handwritten notes in the margin are the making of this book!46

Excellent
I bought this for a friend as a present. It's a good quality hard back. I can't comment on the quality of the Latin, as I'm not good enough to know the difference, but he's certainly been kept busy translating it.I wish there had been this type of book around when I was studying Latin, it would have certainly made it more fun.

.....any way i think the point i was going to make was that for die hard potter fans who've brought all the books and everything else they can get there hands on, a book like quidditch through the ages is bliss. It's as clever as the HP books and just gives the story's more history and realism.
for less obsessed fans these comic relief books are just refreshingly clever an innovative and make you want to e-read the book. Any one who's read the books should read them.

I admit it I'm a Potter obsessed maniac !!!
Maybe I'm a little too obsessed, I've read and reread and read some more, Ive read all the"theory of.." and"behind..."s, I've read all the quiz books and have found them very easy, I've even been on every rumor page i can find and spread any as many theories that my little brain can come up with......any way i think the point i was going to make was that for die hard potter fans who've brought all the books and everything else they can get there hands on, a book like quidditch through the ages is bliss. Agreed
I agree with the other reviewer that Fry's narration is excellent. In fact it almost crosses over into the territory of a radio play as Fry's voice characterisations are so good that you forget that your listening to someone reading a book.52

I am an Extremely Pleased American
I'm 15 years old boy here and despite the jeers from my friends (I do have SOME friends that actually like it) I am a huge Harry Potter fan here in America and after reading my Scholastic editions at least 5 times each... most of my original books are becoming very worn and tattered. So I decided to get me a brand new and shiny box set and after some deliberation I decided to go with the children's UK box set over the UK adult or a new US set. The set arrived at my home in Louisiana surprisingly fast (before Amazon's estimated delivery date) and I was SOOO excited to open them and look at them and feel them and critique them and compare them to the American versions (I know, I am a bit of a creep when it comes to new books, especially Harry Potter books :))

and I must say that I am very happy with my decision. Of course this review is not of the actual story or plot, which deserves a 6 star rating (the first four books were so good I read them all in the first grade. Yeah. They had to be a little good...? Right? :P) But as for the actual quality of the books, I am mostly very pleased. The covers are AWESOME and really beyond my expectations when I saw them in person. The illustrations and spine as well as the title are wonderfully colorful and just really amazing. I personally think that from the outside the UK books are more attractive then their US twins, but the US versions are still some of the most beautiful books ever crafted by a publisher. I also like the size of the UK version much more. They are easier to hold in the hand and just make the over all set look neater. The box they came in is nothing too special but I will still use it to keep them all together as a major highlight on my bookshelf.

My only complaint (which isn't something that has upset me too much) is that the interior quality of the books are actually pretty disappointing. I can live with the EXTREMELY small margins (it has to be that way so the books can be the small size they are. I can imagine if the margins were larger around the sides of the pages the books would be at least a hundred pages longer, which would make the smaller dimensions of the book very awkward looking. The small margins force the words to seem cramped and its just a little difficult to read (a bit hard on the eyes) but it really is no big deal. The bigger problem is the quality of the paper. Its rough, too light, and brownish. It isnt near the attractiveness of the American editions. But all in all I CAN deal with it and the outstanding exterior really does make up for the rather dismal interior. Because I am just soooo pleased I have to give it 5 stars because I am realllllly happy with my purchase. I would recommend these books (the UK ones especially) to any avid fan of Harry Potter as a collectible item (THese are the REAL GENUINE ORIGINAL Harry Potter books with all the unedited words and jazz) or any other reader who needs to be enlightened by the magic that J. K. Rowling has so graciously bestowed upon the world. These books are perfect for huge reading fans and boys and girls and adults that just want some magical adventure in their lives. If you don't like reading, I promise that these books might just make you change your mind. They made a little 7 year old boy fall in love with reading and 8 years later, I am still re-reading them and other books and enjoying every minute of it.55

An unfortunate bad end to what could have been a fantastic series
After the disappointment of the sixth book I did have some apprehension when I first read the final installment- the deathly hallows.

Bent canon rules of the previous books, dodgy wand lore which didn't make sense as well as terrible moral messages are just some of the reasons why this book was questionable. This is not to mention the multiple dropped themes and twisted characterisation from that which was established in earlier books which Rowling failed to deliver on or keep.

Other reasons included general repetition and pacing as well as the terrible writing in some areas other than the infamous epilogue. Other issues include the fact Rowling tried to fit blatent christian apologetics and themes in an area which it simply did not fit.

I'm afraid, in the end, Rowling while having a magnificant amount of imagination, just didn't have the talent to pull off writing a seven book series. It's a shame, but from doing this, Rowling has also potentially taught thousands of potential authors to learn from her mistake: that you should always plan ahead.

56

Whilst only a baby Harry's parents are killed by Lord Voldemort an evil wizard. Somehow when Voldemort tried to kill Harry his spell backfired leaving him powerless. Harry is brought up by his abominable Aunt and Uncle who keep him as downtrodden as possible and tell him nothing of his magical powers. His life takes a spectacular twist when he gets a letter and discovers that he's a wizard. He enrols at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and embarks on the biggest adventure of his life.
Take my advice, buy the book, it's a remarkable adventure and a great way to improve your Spanish.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
This is one of my favorites, harry and ron have been left in london due to not being able to get on the train to Hogwarts. Although, ron has an idea, we should use"dad's" car to get us to Hogwarts, as you can imagine, it does not go to plan!. A great book to read and fun for all age's. 10/10
