Je suis une mere anglaise. Mon deuxieme fils, qui a onze ans, a passe l'annee dernier a Strasbourg. Bien qu'il aimait la vie Strasbourgeoise, il souffrait fortement de la nostalgie. Maintenant, nous sommes revenus chez nous en angleterre. Pendant nos mois interminables en France, les ecritures de J K Rowling (Harry Potter) , et de C S Lewis (Narnia) nous faisaient rester sains d'esprit. Je recommande les deux auteurs qui, ensemble, representent de toute facon, les hauts incontestables de la litterature d'enfance mondiale.

Great book

Is what it is... Harry Potter in Irish. Bought this for my girlfriend, and she loved it, so if you're into the Irish language, then this is a great wee book, teaches you lots of new words you probably haven't heard of before!

Harry potter 5 - on audio tape

i thought this was prehaps not the best harry potter book but still just as equally engrosing!

Some nights before i go to bed i can't face reading the book (i hear you ghasp!) so i just stick one of my tapes on. They are very entertaining and sometimes so relaxing they send me
straight off to sleep.

The price may seem slightly hefty but no worries i swear they are well worth it, in my opinion any ways.

Stephen fry who reads the Cover to Cover series is borne to read harry potter, and the enthusiasm he puts into his text is stimulating and keeps your attention throughout.

I hope you enjoy listening to this book just as much as you enjoyed reading it.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets

This series is absolutely brilliant! I have now read all the books (I read the last one on the day it came out and in less than 24 hours!) I am now collecting all the books in special edition. This book has as much flying, magic, spells, bad guys and heroes as the first! If I was you I would click buy straight away! DO IT! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW! Or you will regret it. In special editon you get gold leafed pages, the book in hardback and a string bookmark.<br />It is worth the money!<br />My favourite part in the book is when Harry and Ron are hoping Snape's been sacked but really he's right behind them!<br />Gildiroy Lochart is such a puff as well! He's all me me me! He says he's battled with banshees and fought werewolves. But is that true? And what secrets does the Chamber of Secrets hold? It's deffinately a bad one and when Harry's classmates start getting attacked it looks like Hogwarts could be closed...............

Never Read anything like it

Cor, Harry Potter, worth spending thousands for this book. With wit, suspense and breath taking adventures this book is the best book I've ever read, and I've about 2,000 in my time. I was glued to my seat and was reading alnight. I highly recommed this book to anyone.

as good as it gets

if you can speak welsh and you love the hp books then buying this to acompany your english collection will be the best thing you did this year. an amzing story translated for the oldest language in europe.

stunning, hold-your-breath and excitintg

Have I ever read a book like this? Not just like this, no, I read a lot, but never such a large novel in so little time! As some might say it's somewhat like Tolkien's work, but they might be forgetting that these are children's novels, unlike Tolkien's. I wish Harry Potter had been born about 15 years ago, so I wouldn't have had to look so hard to find a superb book to read!!!!Even now I'm shut off from the outside world when I read any of the Harry Potter adventures and that means a lot!

My favourite Harry Potter book

This was my favourite Harry Potter book it was a real page turner.I read it in a day.

J.K. Rowling schreibt wirklich zauberhaft, schade ist nur, dass die die Deutsche Ãœbersetzung so schlecht ist. Ich kann allen nur empfehlen Harry Potter im Original zu lesen!

I'd rather be a prisoner in Azkhaban than read another Potter book

Having watched the films and enjoyed them, I spoke to my fiancée with regards to reading the books. She has read them all and suffers from what can only be described as 'pottermania'. Knowing me as well as she does, she recommended that if I was to get into the story in the book, I would be better reading"prisoner" to start with as it was probably the best written of the early books.<br /><br />Armed with a lazy saturday afternoon and the phone off the hook, I sat back and read what JKR had to offer. I hasten to add, I am an avid SF/Fantasy reader and own several hundred books of the ilk, so I felt that I could seriously give it a go and get myself immersed in potterdom.<br /><br />Ok, on to the book.<br /><br />That evening, I finished what can possibly be described as the worst waste of time in my life. Now, I understand that the story is for kids, I'm not knocking that fact and the way that JKR writes, it is as if a kid had written it. I found I couldn't get to grips with her storytelling style. The language used was basic and how adults could be drawn into such a world, defies belief. It just goes to show that even if you aren't a good writer, you could still become a millionaire on the back of media promotion and the hype that surrounds a new book.<br /><br />If I were you, I would stick to the films, they at least are enjoyable to watch, contain the interesting bits of the books and thankfully are only 2 hours out of your life wasted!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Part 1 Audiotape

Have the whole collection of Harry Potter in book form and audiotape. Worth the money a million times over!! The whole family love to listen to these tapes from my 5 year old to his grand dad. Great for car journeys - don't hear a peep out of anyone!

The Order of the Phoenix carries on the Harry Potter story fantastically and Stephen Fry narates the book excellently. The audiotape is great for young children who aren't able to read the book. My 5 year old son loves Harry Potter so really enjoys listening to the tapes.

It will be played over and over again. It is a must have for any Harry Potter fan even if you have already read the book.

The best so far!

Another gripping book for JK Rowling. Harry is entered in the triwazard tournament; an inter-schools competition. Harry is in increasing danger as Voldemort’s presence gets stronger. The best one yet!

A good read

I got to say I enjoyed the film more than the book but you should still read them all.

Harry Potter Box Set with Trunk

From the description on Amazon I was not sure if this was US or UK edition. But I wanted a collectors box set and did not mind which it was so I went for this. This is the US edition.<br /><br />The set arrived promptly, the trunk is quite a flimsy cardboard for the price but very pleasent. Fortunately it arrived very well packaged as I imagine it could take some damage pretty easily. However it is a very nice touch to the set and looks great.<br /><br />The books are very well sealed inside the trunk, and are good quality hard backs. The cover illustrations and illustrations at the beginning of each chapter are lovely. <br /><br />I am not sure what it means by box set 1-7 with sticker as there were no stickers in mine. As a twenty something collector this not bother me but maybe dissapointing to a child. Although the books are more than enough for a nice treat.<br /><br />I really think this item would look great in a kids bedroom too as the trunk it comes in does complete the set nicely.

In my opinion the best in the series

Brief Plot Overview:<br />Times are dark as famous mass murderer, Sirius Black, is on the loose. This notorious muggle killer is not only barking mad, but he was He-who-must-not-be-nameds' most loyal follower (or so we're lead to believe) and is seeking revenge for the fall of his master, in the form of murdering our hero, Harry Potter. <br /><br />Review:<br />This book is probably one of the best children's books I have ever read, not only does it bring together the plot so far in the exciting and dramatic way we've come to expect from Rowling, but it does so in an informative way and allows the reader to gain insight into the future instalments to come, which only engorges the thirst for more from this talented writer. <br /><br />Rowlings' style is well balanced and these books reek of careful planning from the start, there are no inconsistencies in story (and trust me I've tried to find them by re-reading) and everything works together like a well-oiled machine. <br /><br />The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite out of the seven because it adds a human touch instead of a whizz-bang finale, by that I mean there is little magic involved in deciding the outcome of the book and it is based around argument, conversation, good old fashioned sneaking about and human decisions rather than an all out brawl with spells and incantations. <br /><br />Followers of the series will not be disappointed with the third instalment and (for those few who haven't swallowed the hype) are definitely recommended to fantasy readers who also enjoy a bit of good-old-English reality. The fact that the base-audience is children but adults all over the world read these books shows their versatility and ability to appeal to a wide range of audiences. <br /><br />I am not the first to say this and I definitely won't be the last, but Kudos to J.K.Rowling!

Best ever supression of whingeing during long car journeys.

This kept two children enthralled and two adults entertained on a journey from Wales to Scotland and back even though the boys and I had already read it. Anything that suppresses the 'Are we there yet' enquiries from the kids and all other whingeing and squabbling in the back of the car without boring me to desperation fully deserves a five star rating.

It is excellently read and well characterised. Yes, it is expensive, but will be used repeatedly and passed round to other desperate parents so is good overall value.

Learning Languages

I am reading the Danish, French, & Polish & with the French & Polish audio versions; J.K. Rowlings has made learning other languages a little easier. A very good story from this book to the last in the series.
