The Secret

Our Price: £5.89
Used Price: £7.49
New Price: £5.38

Review:
If you don't believe it, you'll never get it!
Firstly, I have yet to buy the movie and/or book/teeshirt etc. but I'll ask you to read some of the reviews here and see for yourself, exactly what the book is undoubtedly saying, as the many reviewers seem to be adamant that it's truly insightful OR adamant that it's utter nonsense.<br /><br />A highly polarized mix of opinion indeed or is it just my perception? Hmmmm.....<br /><br />This is a perfect example of the basic truth that YOU CREATE REALITY WITH YOUR MIND, regardless of the evidence, since it exists in favour of both sides in all cases, depending on who you choose to believe! That's not to say that there isn't an ultimate factual 'reality' but that's still highly subjective from our limited perspective.<br /><br />Note that I didn't say you create reality with your brain, as that's 'just' the physical interface with the body for the MIND to control in this density or frequency range called matter. Ever tried to teach anyone something without their consent? Just doesn't happen! (as per negative reviews and people who say things like"I never done it. You done that" or the classic,"We was robbed!" after a bad football game).<br /><br />Thusly, PROVING THE WHOLE POINT that you are indeed in control of your lot, PERMISSION must be granted first, AS CO-CREATOR OF YOUR OWN REALITY; demonstrating the power YOU have over YOUR life in a nutshell!<br /><br />Consider the tortured prisoner, for example. Why so much force to extract a mere confession or data? Finally, under extreme duress and close to death, they nonetheless willingly submit their absolute and total POWER over their desperate and cruel captors (who are even disgusted by their own actions but are in fear of their 'superiors' and so on - yawn) and they sing like a bird, probably to die in vain anyway.<br /><br />Those who know their true power, however, do not submit to mere misguided mortals but completely HUMBLE their captors with their secret knowledge of WHO THEY ARE AS THE CREATOR OF THEIR OWN REALITY (Sound familiar? J.C. by all accounts, bless him!).<br /><br />This takes some guts though, as I'm sure you'll agree (have you SEEN The Passion of (The) Christ?!!!) but the point is that at some stage a decision must be made to relinquish their so far unbreakable will; one which would remain so for as long as they decided - even unto death or the illusion thereof - we shall see!).<br /><br />What a metaphor for political corruption. Only by the will of the people, can even despots succeed! Hitler needed the Reichstag fire like Bush et al needed 911. Do your research; it's all on here. These apparent spiritual morons atleast know or were told that it takes collective consciousness to manifest global events like war and the subsequent financial rewards and control for it's masterminds. Not votes mind you, just beliefs. Votes can be and are rigged in such cases but it's your MIND that they need to enlist. That's why they go to such trouble. It's precisely BECAUSE YOU ARE THE SOURCE OF THEIR POWER. WITHOUT YOU THEY ARE NOTHING and they know it!<br /><br />Pearl Harbour was no slip-up in intelligence. Well, you know what I mean!<br /><br />They need YOU to do their dirty work at all levels of the lie. That takes your belief in the cause."They bombed us first" etc. so now ANYTHING GOES! Even the mass murder of innocent civilians and the irreversible pollution of the planet with so called 'Depleted' Uranium munitions (that's nuclear weapons being used right now, today folks!)?????<br /><br />Apparently so. That's how desperate they are and you'd better strap yourself in as it's gonna get wild until enough minds collectively say"ENOUGH ALREADY!"<br /><br />Put Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld or Blair in Iraq or Afghanistan on the front line and watch them cry for their Mamas like the spiritual babies they are.<br /><br />They, however are only able to be so 'evil' while we allow them. Cleverly 'they' (that means WE) have engineered a society of mistrust and fear in which 'we' will do anything to be protected from that evil of evils, you know, the 'T' word. Funny but the alleged 911, 7/7 or Madrid etc. 'T' ists couldn't have ever dreamt of a better result than the Fascist Dictatorships we all live under now as the excuse to 'Defend Our Freedoms". What freedoms? Go on, list them for me, I kinda forgot what they WERE.<br /><br />Very simplistically, belief as they say, is everything. Those who doubt and scoff, are right. It doesn't work - for them......or does it? So powerful are you (that pesky MIND bit!) that you can convince your brain to filter, twist, distort, discount and ignore all data in conflict with your pre-conceived (formed before their rightful time), wait for it.........BELIEFS!<br /><br />Those who are more humbled by their experiences, (the true purpose of 'karmic' events by the way - not as punishment but as clues along the path of life) and whom have an open mind, following the guidance given, (getting what they want in the process), are right. It does work - for them!<br /><br />Funny that, isn't it!?<br /><br />The Universe isn't a perfect clockwork mechanism, however, as the element of chaos is our free will and the will of 'The Gods' or those 'Mindfields' so vast as to create entire galaxies but that's another subject!<br /><br />If you don't get it yet, don't get it! You've made YOUR CHOICE to believe what YOU want; to remain in ignorance! It's not an insult, it's a statement of fact. You're ignoring the abundant evidence so eloquently layed before you. You need more help to realise (make real) your responsibility. If it's all someone else's fault that you're disabled with AIDS and starving to death on welfare, what power have you? Absolutely NONE. It's all hopeless! Might as well give up now - and again, since trust me, you've done it many times before and will continue to do it until the penny drops and the Great Spirit of Almightly Allah, God or Jehovah kicks in and you start to ask for (and more importantly ACCEPT) help from those who have been here before a few more times and are merely offering to show you the way home, back to ONEness with GOD or YOU, it's the same thing really!<br /><br />Prove to me that all is not one big lump of interconnected 'energy consciousness' or whatever that's indivisible when you look close enough and I'll admit I'm stupid. Seperation is the greatest illusion of all. On a sidenote, for GOD to exist 'it' must BE all that IS, yes? Otherwise it wouldn't know everything. Something might exist outside of itself. That's what 'GOD' is; the sum total of ALL THAT IS, including and indivisible from YOU and not limited to some guy with a grey beard laying on a cloud.<br /><br />You are in any statement of victimhood or blaming others, giving away all of your creative response-ABILITY. Always and forever ask WHY. What lesson is to be learned from this experience? Think about it instead of blaming 'society' since they are but other apparent individuals like you, blaming eachother, (you included!), starting wars and engineering AIDS etc. and all manner of social ills through collective ignorance.<br /><br />We collectively create our world but are individually responsible for our part. This is especially true of politicians and soldiers etc. who seem to have forgotten the basic purpose of their jobs as SERVANTS OF THE PUBLIC INTEREST and keepers of the peace........NOT DICTATORS!<br /><br />One way or another, the collective 'Will be done' though, so be careful what you believe; not fearful, just very careful, as your mind is an aspect or part of the most powerful creative force in errrmmmmm, Creation!<br /><br />If you do 'get it' however, get it.......<br /><br />I'm sure it's very good!

I Can Make You Thin (New edition - book & CD)

Our Price: £6.49
Used Price: £5.00
New Price: £4.83

Review:
Can reading this book make you thin?
This book claims that it will change your relationship with food and that will ultimately make you thin but of course we all know is that eating less and excercising more will make you thin not reading a book so whats this guys silver bullet. The point is I think that part of loosing weight is about determing the reasons why you are doing it and making sure that you can sustain that weight loss. My doctor told me that less than 10% of people who loose weight keep it off so its true that the long term solution is as important as the hunger pangs and gym time. The two main aspects of the plan are firstly only eat when you are hungry and secondly positive thinking and reinforcement of positive messages - which I found the most interesting as it encourages you to turn any negative idea or thought into something positive so mental as well as physical gymnastics. The book itself contains 90 pages and on the left hand side there is a daily idea from our mentor, for example, taking the time to think positively about some part of yourself. On the right hand side is a daily checklist and space to put in some comments to two questions a) One positive thing I noticed today and b) What I'm looking forward to tomorrow. The checklist asks if you have if you have moved your body, drank lots of water, eaten only when you are hungry, looked in the mirror and thought about how great you. The second key to this plan or idea is only eat what you want and only eat when you are hungry. The idea being not to enter into a negative cycle of deprevation but embracing what you like eating but only eat when you need to and as much as you need. All these ideas are great and important to long term success. I also find that writing in a journal and having checkpoints is a good way to keep on track. But whether any diet works is up to you not the author, so the book is a tool to help you as an overweight individual feel more positive about yourself, more committed to a diet and build a long term sustainable relationship with food. So did it work for me? well it helped me think about why I was dieting and the postiive thinking was a very good excercise which I much appreciated and I honestly did change some things in my relationship with food such as only eating at the table - not in front of the TV and to think about the enjoyment of food rather than using it as a comfort blanket and I started doing more sport - I do however admit that although I kept on the diet I gave up with the journal after around 1.5 months as the daily questions are the same but ever so often I go back and have a peek.

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

Our Price: £6.94
Used Price: £3.86
New Price: £3.73

Review:
Did anyone else find it difficult?
I bought this book almost one year ago and still haven't finished it!<br /><br />This is a first, as I have read a lot of books on enlightenment, mindfulness and the like. Even the super small text put me off, as reading it at bedtime by lamplight was difficult. <br /><br />I found it repetitious and extremely wordy. It is difficult to deal with a mind always racing with thoughts, so to pick up a book which you feel should help you calm your thoughts, especially after a long day, I think shouldn't be such a chore to get through. <br /><br />Ok, I will say the message is a good one, but to have to filter through all the mumbo jumbo to decipher it seemed difficult to me.<br />Still plugging away at it here and there.<br /><br />My apologies to the author, maybe I am just too thick. :)

The New Contented Little Baby Book: The Secret to Calm and Confident Parenting

Our Price: £6.44
Used Price: £3.99
New Price: £4.33

Review:
A blessing in paperback
After weeks of becoming more and more confused as to why our 6 week old baby was crying, desperately trying to work out what she wanted, receiving a copy of The New Contented Little Baby Book was a blessing in paperback. She has slept through from 11pm-7am since. The key for us was that we now knew exactly what she needed at any time of the day and instead of being bewildered or assuming she was hungry, we could meet her needs even before she was aware of them herself so no more crying - hurrah! I buy a copy of Gina's book for every new mum I know and have just bought her book on weaning.

Instant Confidence (Book and CD)

Our Price: £5.88
Used Price: £4.60
New Price: £4.72

Review:
This book is not just for under-confident people
Buying this book could be the best few quid you've ever spent. I purchased this out of curiosity really, not thinking I had any lack of confidence. But I now realise there's a lot more to confidence than just dealing with other people easily. Anyway, McKenna does not teach you lots of tricks to project a super-confident image to the world, like all those tedious pick-up artist guides to manipulating others. Instead, the book is a guide to feeling completely comfortable in your own skin and losing any negative habits that get in the way of being the best and most effective person you can be. <br />I've been really surprised by the effect carrying out the book's exercises and listening to the CD have had. I've no way of knowing whether this will work for everyone, but my experience has been I now feel calmer and more productive. This book has certainly helped me to become more confident to just get on with things in my life. I guess the will to do that was there already, but I would say anyone toying with the idea of making this purchase should give it a go - if it works for you as it has for me, you'll be laughing. <br />

Cesar's Way: The Natural, Everyday Guide to Understanding and Correcting Common Dog Problems

Our Price: £4.79
Used Price: £3.81
New Price: £3.31

Review:
Excellent
I bought the book on the strength of the Dog Whisperer TV show and have to say that Cesar's philosophy is so simple that it is untrue. Humans have become so detached and confused about the way they view animals and dogs in particular that it is no wonder dogs develop phobias and other anxiety related problems. Cesar puts over clearly thought-out ideas in such a friendly and easy to understand way that it is recommended reading for any one who is interested in dogs, let alone anyone who owns one!

The Game

Our Price: £4.90
Used Price: £3.70
New Price: £3.52

Review:
Amazingly Fantastic, and terrible at the same time
I'm so happy that I read the game. Without it, i'd still be a lonely depressed chump. However, I read it in 2005 and things have moved on, now I have to compare it to books like The Natural Art of Seduction...<br /><br />The Game is a well-written engaging story. Secondly it exposes a world where men can LEARN how to be better with women. Third, it has some techniques and tricks to actually put things into practice. <br /><br />The problem is that The Game describes PUA Verson 1.0, the kind where guys looked silly (peacocking), lied (routines, canned material), used silly tricks (magic?!) and basically put on a big fake act.<br /><br />Just like when smokers thought it wasn't bad for them, before all the studies came out, guys loved this stuff. However, a few years later, cracks started to show:<br /><br />The guys were great at the first few hours, their acting skills allowed them to get girls that really were out of their league. The problem: They could never keep these girls once the material ran out. Serious guys with interesting lives were becoming someone else when they didn't need to be. Guys were starting to become weird, to view women more and more as objects, and actually not even getting the results they wanted at the end of it.<br /><br />And then came Pick Up 2.0, the kind that is about building better men, becoming a more attractive person, and over time developing"Natural Game". Sure, you might use some tricks and gimmicks in the first few weeks or months (think training wheels) but soon, all that stuff falls away as you build natural confidence. <br /><br />The techniques in The Game are not healthy for men or women in the long run, but guys should thank Neil Strauss for bringing this little-known area into the mainstream and giving guys a way to become the person they desperately wished they were. <br /><br />For a more powerful and moral appraoch, and a book with much more usable technique, check out The Natural Art of Seduction. Both books together would make a great introduction and are probably the best you can do on Amazon for imrpoving your skills with women.

7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Our Price: £9.09
Used Price: £5.25
New Price: £6.00

Review:
Masterpiece amongst self help.
The modern trend for self help seems to be books on cognitive behavioural therapy, a subject which is very dear to my own heart having edited one or two of these, but personal life coaching should never be under-estimated. And if it is life coaching you are after, then there can be no better starting point than Covey's masterpiece - 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Previous reviewers have done an excellent job of breaking the book down so no need to do that again. What I hope to achieve is my aim of getting as many as possible familiar with the core concepts within, and with the book so cheap through Amazon these days it could be sitting on everyone's shelf. With a basic grasp of what Covey teaches, you really are heading towards a less stressful, less frustrating, more productive life.

An essential book for any parent
This book really does what it says on the cover. The advice is relevant for all parents who want non-confrontational ways of disciplining their children. There are many examples given and old/new ways of dealing with situations. I found myself re-reading chapters as incidents arose within my home. Although changes won't occur overnight there should be improvements in a few days. As a teacher, I also found some of the techniques and suggestions relevant for school, I certainly intend to use them in future.

Inspirational
My husband buys me a cookbook every Christmas. It's a standing joke because he does all the cooking. By the time I get the next one, I can do 1 or 2 recipes. This book, along with the way of eating, has changed all that. I am cooking all the time and really enjoying it. My husband is really enjoying eating the food (and he doesn't know that I am on a"diet"). If I can get enthused by making truly delicious food, then anyone can.

A nice read, not sure about the diet
I love the writing style, unlike most diet books it's actually a fun read, but this diet made me very ill. Stomach cramps, throwing up the works. This obviously isn't the case for everyone but you need to listen to your body. The diet advises you pig out before starting I had a very high carb diet and did just that and I would say that might be too big a shock to your system and where i went wrong.
