Excellent for beginers and new pet owners
I watch victoria on the T.V and am always facinated. I purchased the book and read it in a flash. Very easy reading and a good insight into a dog's mind. Excellent for a new pet owner with a good layout.43

It is a well written guide with pages and pages of beautiful pictures to get inspired by. And I found it very easy to read as well. The description and growing needs of every plant and flower is written in a simple to follow way.
This book has so much information on so many plants, I could keep myself easily entertained right up until mid-spring. Just in time for putting the information I learned into use!
I’m so happy to have bought this book, I am already looking into this author’s past books on houseplants too.

Disappointed - grandiose plans but no substance
I really liked the central concept of the book, that is you should love your child unconditionally, success or failure, naughty or good, and that the child should know that they are loved unconditionally so that they can grow up secure. However I was very disappointed with the actual substance about the nitty gritty daily life and how you manage things. There were lots of don'ts - don't praise your child when they've been good, don't punish them when they've been bad - but I felt it was lacking on the what you are supposed to do.46

Time to get your wellies on..
I have always wanted to grow my own, but I've never had the confidence to go for it.

This book gives you detailed tables of sowing and planting times, seasonal guides, advice on sellecting what to grow and even the odd recipe too. It is written in a clear and concise fashion, with lots of helpfull (and pretty) photographs.
I particularly like the seasonal guides as they have"Sow Now; Plant Now; In Season Now" in one quick reference column at the start of the"chapter".

It answers every question that a virgin allotment holder could ask. I would highly recommend it.51

Fantastic value and easy to make cakes!
When a child, I remember that my mother had an older edition of this cookbook which my brothers and I used to look through and choose our birthday cakes from every year. We loved the cakes, all of which are reproduced in this more up to date book, now appearing more colourful and just as yummy looking as ever.

This new edition is fantastic value, containing easy to follow recipes for lots and lots of cakes.

If you have young children and like to make you own cakes for their birthdays (and home made cakes always taste better!), you will not find a book with as many simple recipes as this one. I find the Australian women's weekly cookbooks really helpful and down to earth. The cakes vary from super quick and simple to more time and consuming and elegant (and even these are relatively easy).

Most recipes use everyday confectionary which is easy to get hold of in your local supermarket - there are barely any ingedients that you will find difficult to obtain.

I have given this book 5 stars for its easy, accessible style and simple to make cakes which really do taste good and look impressive for both children and adults. There are great categories of cakes, including seperate ones for boys and girls, and also number cakes which can be adapted and personalised for all birthdays (not just children's!)

I highly recommend this book, for cakes to make and also as a reference for inspiration!!!53

Self Indulgence
I was going to purchase this, but got it from my local library and I'm glad I can put it back on the shelf. The selected gardens are for the most part obvious, although most are very interesting but I find the photos of Monty in each garden extremely egotistical and very offputting.55

visual feast
Someone bought me this book as a gift and I'm really glad they did as it ended up being far more useful than I had first thought it would be. The illustrations were beautifully layed out and full of the sort of small details that make a difference to a room. The advice offered was practical but stylish, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Recommended56

A must for any cat"owner"
I'm a man and have only one less cat than the author, so I found this book is so true to life that it had me in stiches throughout. From cat flap bizarreness (fridge, anyone?) to a discussion of the many names a cat seems to end up with, right down to the sadness of loss. Everything is here. And, truth be told, it's probably way more educational for newcomers to cats than those many so-called"cat psychiatry" books.57

The Essential Garden Design Workbook
This is a book which I know intimately, especially the first edition which formed the basis of The English Gardening Schools Distance Learning course, in Garden Design. It is without doubt one of the best books of it's type, and ranks along side the Doyen of Garden Design Books John Brooks, frankly I cannot pay the Author,Rosemary Alexander any higher compliment, if you are a Student, or newly qualified Designer then this is a book which will be referred to on more than one occaison, and it's style and quirky line drawings only add to your entertainment& education ,buy it you will not be dissappointed.58

A charming glimpse into the highways and byways of England's horticultural (and culinary) history, illuminated by fascinating anecdotes. Perfect for dipping into and strongly recommended for gardeners and cooks alike.60

brilliant
To dub this a great book is a mad 7that I could find a book telling me anything new about the Battle of Britain. Mr Bishop showed I was sadly awry. I dont want to spoil it for others by giving away the plot. Suffice to say Mr Bishop has found ingenious ways to reheat old stories and make them exciting. he is fine historian and once he brushes up on his grammar and punctuation will be up there amongst the greats like the late AJP Taylor andJack Plumb.
