Inspiring, Brilliant, an aid to recovery
I bought this book as a resource for a library of books in a Alcohol and Drug help agency. After the staff read it, we decided to buy another 50 to give to some of the clients we work with. Inspiring and a brilliant resource, small enough to use every day.26

Is Johnathan the true son of the Great Gull?
A beautiful story that took 1 hour to read.Behind the words is the message that we are poweful beings whose thoughts are powerful and that we need to step away from the crowd and search for higher realms.
I much prefer Richard Bachs book illusions which is more profound.
The message that should be taken very seriously is that our thoughts are truely powerful, this is why the Law of Attraction is such a powerful force in our lives.29

Excellent advice and very interesting stories. A must-read!
I wonder if we'd be in the credit crisis we're in if everybody had read this book. It's amazing that this has been around so long and the principle really hasn't changed. I follow a lot of the advice and it's a huge help.

It makes a creat companion to the Rich Dad, Poor Dad book Amazon suggests.30

read the title... it is quite clear who this book is aimed at
This book has been harshly reviewed by people who have knowledge of NLP:"don't read this book if you know anything about NLP" is apparently the take home message. Fine. But that is kind of like telling a rocket scientist not to bother reading a pre-school chemistry book!

For those who no nothing about NLP, i.e. the intended demographic, this is a great book with plenty of examples relating the theory to real life. Sure, it isn't advanced NLP but you can't run before you can walk.

I am a complete beginner and this book captured my imagination and made me think more analytically about my actions, thoughts and communication skills. My advice is go to a book store and read a chapter or two before making your mind up.31

Cosmic Ordering Guide: Where Dreams Can Become Reality

Review:
A strange but valuable book
No-one picks up a book on cosmic ordering with an unbiased mind. Many people believe implictly in the principles of cosmic ordering; others are profoundly sceptical, though those in the latter category are unlikely to read a book like this in the first place, and would probably dismiss it out of hand. I've read other books on cosmic ordering, and have to say that some of them were pretty unimpressive. This one is different; here's why.

Stephen Richards has a rather unusual style of writing. Initially, this struck me as being simply an extremely conversational tone. The book reads as though it had been dictated to tape and then transcribed. Initially, it seems like one half of a conversation, in which the speaker ranges off into some seemingly-unconnected areas ranging from pyramid theory to the pineal gland to Mayan seers, not forgetting von Daniken. At first, I could not really grasp the point of this eclectic (indeed, at times, seemingly eccentric) approach.

But then the penny dropped. The languid, conversational tone is AN EXTREMELY SUBTLE AND EFFECTIVE FORM OF MILD HYPNOSIS. As you read this book, you are being mildly hypnotised, and thereby prepared. This makes you ready for the acceptance of the action plan set out here. The action ideas are dropped like pebbles into the relaxed mind of the reader, sending out positive thoughts like ripples in a pond. When Richards 'cuts to the chase', the style changes from the languid and conversational to the precise. It's a remarkable piece of writing.

The excellent CD by the same author - even better than the book, in many ways - confirmed to me that the aim is the acceptance of positive thinking through mild hypnosis, following the premise that positive thoughts, however created, will give positive results.

Does it work? My tentative view is 'yes', though cosmic ordering is not capable of scientific proof or disproof. I'm witholding one star here, simply because I don't think 'cosmic ordering' really connects quite as effectively as the more spiritual school epitomised by Troward, Curtis and Fox. Fox's"Golden Key" is the true miracle tool, utterly brilliant and effective.

This said, Richards' book is a very long way ahead of others in the cosmic ordering field. I'm sure it can change lives for the better. It is to be hoped that it will also lead readers to enquire more deeply and to read Troward et al.

All in all, then, it's a remarkable piece of work. If you buy just one book on 'cosmic ordering', it should be this one.32

The truth about his book
Well if your skimming over these books and you are wondering which out of the millions to buy. I would say firstly Neil strauss - the game. The game is told in story form but you do learn some things as you read it definately new perpectives on the whole women situation. The reason i would say buy the game first is because it really wets your appetitie for the subject to learn more.I would say that the mystery method book, (which is breifly mentioned in the game), makes brilliant reading after reading the game as you already know the basic prinsciples. The mystery method is well worth the money on its own but it is not a story as the game is, it is purely examples, theory and suggestions. 10 out of 10.33

Drivel
If pretty words, wishful thinking and prayer (all the same thing, actually) changed the world, we'd all be already living in a better world. But they don't - you have to grow up and stop living the dream, yours, or even worse, somebody else's. And stop hankering after 'lost wisdom' from the 'mystic east' and other such childishness.34

a beautiful book to re-light and inspire!
I too felt this book was un-put-a-downable... i read it in three days! Lorna writes in such a gentle, compassionate humerous way that brings not only her own life into technicolour but also that of the angels around her.

She describe the finest details of the angels that surround her in a way that makes their existence feel natural and plausable. You really feel she steps into another dimension when she sees them... almost like the angels switch Lorna from AM to FM and there they are!

I recommend this book to everyone! Not only those who work in the esoteric field.35

Favourite bedtime book
This has been part of my daughters bedtime routine since she was a few weeks old. She is now 8 months and loves it. I'm convinced the soothing rythmn of the words help her know its time to go to sleep. The pictures are perfect for a babies developing colour vision, initially she preferred the black and white ones, but now the colour ones grab her attention. As she gets older she can point out items as they are read out and then eventually read it to me. Whats not to like?36

There are many reasons for reading this book.....
I am not an artist, and when I read this book I was not hoping to recover my creative self. I was, however, suffering from severe depression and this book was recommended to me. There are many books on depression - I think I must have most of them! - but this is the only one that really helped me on the road to recovery.

It's an easy read, which sets out a simple program that anyone can follow.

Perhaps what it is really about is helping people who feel trapped in a rut make their great escape, by setting out a number of simple, practical steps which are easy to follow. The thinking behind all of the these tasks is explained, but many give additional benefits to the particular person who is reading it.

It contains no mumbo jumbo or pop psychology, just a series of practical things anyone can do in order to move forward. Some may seem odd, but all are easily done.

Above all, this books contains nothing that could harm or mover you backwards.

My personal recommendation is that it cured my depression, and actually made me much more creative.

37

Good Follow Up To the Power of Now
A good follow up to The Power of Now. I wrote the following review about TPON and here it is repeated, but additional comments.

Reading this book was like a condensed version of the many classes I have attended from my spiritual teacher. Eckhart Tolle presents difficult to comprehend subjects in simple to understand language. However, do not expect that this"easy read" will result in instant enlightenment. He sets the basics down, it is up to the reader to absorb and act upon the lessons.

I always leave a weekend workshop at my spiritual teacher's ashram on a natural high. This book gave me that same feeling. It is a wonderful book to help guide you on your spiritual journey.

A New Earth guides the reader further along the path with excellent commentary. The book is grounding. Good reminder to keep my ego out of my way!

Author of the award winning book, Harmonious Environment: Beautify, Detoxify and Energize Your Life, Your Home and Your Planet.38

??? crazed loon escapes asylum - steady on Jamieson
While many of us may find the ideas in this book to be a little far fetched - what is wrong with encouraging simple folk to try a bit of positive thinking...probably harmless. Then out of nowhere some of the reviewers come with their negative energy, like Jamieson with his grotesquely incorrect language refering unplasantly to the tragic subject of serious psychiatric illness and being really quite rude. Perhaps someone would benefit from a few months in a strait jacket, padded cell and fog of heavy sedation but I suggest that it would not be the harmless con artist behind this fashionable nonsense - no community care is fine, but for those charged with the negative vibes of the likes of Jamieson....well a dose of stronger medicine is called for39

The Ultimate How-To Book!
I received this book on my 25th birthday. I hadn't heard of The Game so I had no clue as to what it was. My 'friend' told me it was a how-to guide and then gave me a strange wink and told me it would change my life. When I realised it was about landing the woman of your dreams I was slightly insulted - I'm not that bad! Scepticism soon turned to disbelief. It really works. For me it helped build my confidence and I soon found myself sarging with the best of them!
