Easy does it...

If you have ever tried to get to grips with reading the Tarot cards, you will know that this is easier said than done. But I must say I was very impressed by this book. <br />First of all, the Gilded Tarot is one of the most beautiful decks ever made. It is also very clear and easy to read (even easier for beginners than the Rider-Waite). <br />There is no need to remember everything about the meaning of the cards by heart as the pictures tell you clearly what they are about! <br />Once you have looked at the pictures intently and read the accompanying explanation in the book, you will be surprised how much you remember the next time you pick up your deck!<br />If you are serious about using your cards and interested in doing reading for yourself and others, you should follow the advice in the book and start your own diary. This is a really good technique and, although a little time-consuming, it will give you the best results.<br />I hope you will love this deck as much as I do if you decide to buy it. In fact, I am sure you will!

Positive Thinking?

I think the essence of this book is indoctrinating people into thinking positively and thus effecting positive change in their lives and then getting them to believe it was their innate psychic ability that actually effected the change when in reality it was probably just coincidence or their determination and belief that they could achieve more with their lives.<br /><br />I am not convinced that the author isn't a charlatan out to make some easy money by preaching to the gullible.<br /><br />Some of his personal experiences are laughable: for example psychically moving cars on the highway. Apart from anything else this is a waste of pyschic power but perhaps the rearview mirror image of some loon bearing down on the drivers in front at 80 mph caused the drivers to pull over?<br /><br />I could probably replicate this psychic exercise by driving fast behind someone in a lane. Except if I did it, it would be called tail-gaiting!<br /><br />Contrary to the impression I might give here I am not cynical about esoteric areas. I have had some strange experiences with astral projection but something feels phony about Mr Hewitt. I just don't feel like he is telling the truth and to be honest I found a lot of his experiences very boring to read.<br /><br />Why should the reader care about his experiences when all we want to know is how to develop our own pyschic awareness?<br /><br />He keeps saying we should be able to do great things from our basic pyschic level but to get there is only a matter of a simple visualisation exercise.<br /><br />What you get for your money is a couple of visualisation exercises and some minor references to other esoteric areas.<br /><br />If anyone can make Brad Pitt or Scarlett Johansson fall in love with them after reading this book and practising the exercises I'll gladly change my opinion but until then I'm not convinced.<br />

Interesting, but not as good as previous books

Having read the celestine prophecy first, I didn't find this book as interesting and at times actually found it to be quite hard-going.

A window into a fascinating area

Having decided to explore the area of ancient mysteries and the origins of humanity I decided that this book would be the ideal way in. Gladly, this is the case. The collection of short essays on different but related topics provides a superb overview of many of the thoughts in this area. Consequently, as an introduction to further reading it is ideal but should not be underrated as a great stand alone read. I was (surprisingly) impressed with the rigour applied in each essay - the writers in each case being keenly aware of the need to present opinion in the context of evidence and reasoning. Very compelling.

THE BOOK THAT STARTED MODERN MARTIAL ARTS!!!

Its very hard to not give good reviews on a Bruce Lee book. Finding someone who dosent admire his work is nearly impossible. So in saying that this book is one of the best ever produced on martial arts might be hard to beleive for some.BUT IT IS!! it gives a clear description of each phase of combat (close quarter, punching, kicking, grappling etc) and also gives description and quality content on each. Be aware that this book is aimed for street self defence and not for competition type fighting, so expect to find"dirty" fighting techniques included. With great writing and excellent hand drawn pictures demonstrating techniques this book is a serious must for EVERY martial artist.!!

Excellent summary of BIG PICTURE, as Sitchin sees it...

Sitchin always avoided straight answers in his books, always being impartial, just sugesting...but in this (I guess, final book...legacy book)book, he is honestly answering on BIG questions, like questions about THE SHIFT and RETURN=INVASION of E.T.s and bunch a more things. This books summarizes everything he ever wrote in one big honest opinion about ending...to be more exact, a DIRECT WARNING about chaos that will reign soon. This book is simply brilliant and is written like an interview in which author is in the same time the interogator and the man who is giving answers...THIS BOOK IS A MUST HAVE FOR EVERYONE THAT"KNOW" WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN REALLY SOON...

not for me!

I have three sets of Doreen Virtue's Oracle cards and this is the one I connect the least with. The answers are not grounded enough for me to understand them. It is ok if used with other decks like Unicorns or Fairies.

2nd best chakra clearing system

This was the best chakra clearing system, and it did help me a little but I had to shut my ears to the religious bits. But now Stephen Richards has his chakra clearing system out just for his followers of cosmic ordering i will be moving on to that. Thank you, Doreen, for what I have gained up to now.

throw your notes away

a brilliant skill to learn. This book is an easy to read introduction (though the longer book is more interesting)... much more fun than writing reams of notes.

I got it for my dyslexic son to use for school, a great help for him, and handy for me

Eckhart leads us from suffering into peace

All Eckhart Tolle DVD's CD's and books are fantastic - this DVD set is extra special as it is over 4 hours long and comes with a 64 page book.<br /><br />With his wonderful blend of humour and simple truths, Eckhart's life transforming words deepen our awareness and anchor us firmly in"The now" - the only place we can ever be.<br /><br />Stillness, presence, silence, the egoic state, the flowering of human consciousness, combating excessive thinking, forms and the formless, are all covered and much more.<br /><br />Using brilliantly clear explanations Eckhart leads us from suffering into peace.

Excellent for beginners!

The book is clear, easy to read and precise. There is no confusion and it gives you activities to do to better your skills. The cards are truly beautiful - so colourful and amazing to look at. Very easy to use too. Highly reccomended as a first deck or just buy it anyway just to see the amazing cards!

On first reading - not his best

I'll declare my hand and say I'm a big fan of Barefoot. I have most of the books, the music CD, and both DVDs. On the whole this book is probably the least accessible - which isn't necessarily the book's fault, or Barefoot's. And in fairness, Barefoot states plainly that this book is not a light read, and not for lazy minds. All his usual ideas and techniques are here - on my first reading I'm not sure I identified anything genuinely new - but they don't seem to be presented with the usual clarity. It's an almost stilted delivery - lots of short sentences - and the chapters / topics are for the most part less than 3 pages long. It gives the appearance of being easy to read, but I'm not sure that's true. About the book: there are no page numbers, no contents page, no index, and all the printing is green - every second paragraph is in a 'bold' or dark green, the alternate a light green. If you have the other books, you probably don't need this one - in fact you'll probably be disappointed. I would usually devour Barefoot books - but this one hasn't been very"readable" - and I've got seven-eighths of the way through and am struggling to keep going - despite the short sentence structure, and short chapters. Barefoot is still a brick, despite my review.

firstly thank you to amazon for the very prompt delivery of my first order. i was well impressed with service and price! the archangel cards i have received are once again a pleasure to own. just the enchanting artwork on the oracle card box alone invites you to open the box with excitement.<br /><br />these cards are more motivating and inspiring as opposed to the angel or fairy cards which work with relationship and other personal issues. i would suggest using these cards as additional information when using angel, fairy or magical mermaids and dolphin cards. or alone use them for inspiration.<br /><br />they are a lovely addition to any collection of the doreen virtue cards. <br />

Raising Consciousness

A New Earth is Eckhart Tolle's second book on the power of living in the present moment. Like The Power Of Now, his first book, A New Earth is special to read. Words are powerful carriers of energy, and both of Eckhart's books emanate the love, peace and joy that he obviously experienced while writing these from a place of presence and high level of consciousness.<br /><br />The book takes its title from a Biblical prophecy that refers to the emergence of a new heaven and a new earth, the deeper meaning of which relates to the transformation of human consciousness and the reflection of this higher level of awareness in the physical world. Although the title has its basis in a Christian teaching, A New Earth is a spiritual book and as such can be read by people of any religion or people of no specific religion. In fact, it is interesting to note that the feedback received from the webcasts done recently by Oprah and Eckhart Tolle has indicated that many people have found that reading the book enabled them to understand the teachings of their religions in far greater depth and to apply them with far greater insight than they had previously had. <br /><br />While The Power Of Now was written in question and answer format, A New Earth reads more like a traditional book, and it is therefore often the preferred introduction to the topic for many people. It was certainly Oprah's choice for the webcasts that she and Eckhart conducted! Having read both books, I would probably recommend starting with The Power Of Now; however, this really is a personal choice and either will do as a starting point. The important thing is to read at least one of these books, and to reflect on and practice the teachings contained within them. Increasing your awareness and living in the present moment can be a challenging process, particularly when you start, but the rewards are immense. <br /><br />In addition to going in-depth on subjects such as the ego and the pain-body, A New Earth addresses the topic of conscious creating, particularly in Chapter 10. Although Eckhart never refers to this as The Law Of Attraction, the principles that he discusses provide a spiritual view on the process of creation. If you've ever felt disillusioned by the very materialistic view of The Law Of Attraction, then Eckhart's description of how consciousness creates may be just the antidote that you need!<br />

A great start for beginners!

I highly recommend this book! It has given me not just an understanding on the subject. But also gave a better understanding of myself.
