A great selection of artists sketchbooks.very inspirational

I love to see other artists work, and I am a fan of sketchbooks and peoples journals and how they represent their own work and ideas. So when I saw this book, I knew it would be a great opportunity for me to have a reference book that I could refer back to all the time and get inspiration from.<br />It is packed full of lovely photographs of artists work, an amazing array of ideas by a selection of different artists.<br />Each page is full of coloured photographs and descriptions on how the artist produced them.<br />The book also shows you how to use the ideas to produce your own, it has step by step guides and the materials etc required to do it.<br />A fantastic buy, everyone should buy a copy!!!

Excellent book

You can be pretty much assured that any book by Tone Finnanger will not disappoint. This book is different from her others but, still very enjoyable.

Prompts to get you pumped!

The author treats the subject by letting the journal pages themselves do the talking! There's very little text but over 300+ pages display 1000 journal pages. It is great to keep as a reference guide and use as a source of inspiration and creativity when you need it. The first six pages of the book are text and talk about 'why journal' and 'prompts to get you pumped'. It is just so exciting and really gets you thinking about all sorts! The title 'prompts to get you pumped' is great and it does just that. I'm constantly looking through the pages and every time I notice something new.Art journalling is fairly new to me, so this book was a great way to see so many art journal pages in book for loads of inspirational ideas. I'm sure this book will inspire anyone to try art journaling. There's so many different ways to create pages and ways of using art journalling <br /><br />

Human Anatomy Coloring Book - great for a massage course

Originally I bought this book for background use for teaching KS2 children (my own knowledge rather than using it directly for them)<br />I am also in the process of completing a massage course at college. We have to study anatomy and pyhsiology and be able to identify the muscle groups that we use; this has been ideal for that purpose. It also explains the body systems fairly simply, saving a lot of research time on the net.<br />I would recommend it for this type of level of study, it is much to advanced for younger children but is a great step up from that and not too technically advanced.

an origami classic for all folders

This is the perfect book to inspire beginners and rekindle the enthusiasm of experts because it is the most thoughtful work on origami that I have ever read. Yes, it includes a packet of origami paper so the beginner can begin immediately on opening the book. The layout of the material is attractive and the writing is welcoming. And there is the required plentitude of excellent models to captivate both the beginner and expert. All that is sufficient for a useful book, but there is much more offered by the author. <br /> Nick Robinson is a creator of original models who understands the creative process and communicates possibilities to the reader. He is an accomplished illustrator who knows what the reader needs to be shown and how to reveal it. Best of all, he has been a teacher of origami over decades and experienced the requirements of instruction. This is far more than a barebones collection of models, however valuable such a lively gathering is. Robinson is both relaxed and serious about the craft, so he takes time to write about how to begin, tips on the process of folding, and a discussion of the different styles of folding that have appeared in this ancient craft. What he communicates is valuable for the beginner and a necessary reminder for the expert. <br /> The book is not quite perfect. The model on the cover is not included in the text. The origami paper is not the usual sheet white on one side and color on the other side, not conforming to the illustrations. Some photographs of the completed models would have been instructive. But these are trivial matters. Robinson is a well-rounded, great teacher so all who seek to be stimulated by this craft, realizing that we are actually and always dummies, will enjoy his Origami Kit For Dummies. <br /><br />Robert E. Inspiring!

I have been working in mixed media for a while but it is always good to get extra inspiration and learn new techniques from someone who has the time to experiment! I thoroughly recommend this book and I'm sure it will be well used in my studio.

Best for construction

Well presented book with good guidance to constructing various styles of book. Most of the ideas are based on using stamps or existing images, which could be adapted to make the books more personal. For something more 'creative' try Gwen Diehn's The Decorated Journal, the pair together are a good starting point for anyone interested in creating their own journal or books as gifts.

A great book for card makers

I bought this book a few weeks ago and it's great. The designs are not over complicated and with easy to follow instructions it's a book card makers will enjoy using. There are lots of ideas for different occasions - definitely a good buy!

different versions?

I have this book, and it is indeed very beautiful. It never stops to amaze me how many different ways there are to work with one such simple material. A problem is that on the amazon page none of the 'other views' shown next to the cover are in my version of this book. Same title, same publishing year, different book? If so, I'd like to know which book those pictures come from. I want one of those, too.

Compendium of Cardmaking Techniques

Well presented and beautifully illustrated. I was a bit disappointed as it seemed to be a compilation of other books on cardmaking techniques I have already seen. <br /><br />In fact nothing really new - I would not have bought it in a bookshop, having first flicked through it, as it was all familiar.

This is a stunning book, so inspiring. It has the most gorgeous collection of paper art - things you wouldn't imagine possible!<br /><br />Buy this book, you won't regret it.

iris card compendium

Excellent book full of everything an iris folder may wish to know. Good pictures and templates. would recommend it to anyone but especially those just learning<br />

Nice paper for simple models

The paper is in a nice range of duo colours, thin and accurately square, but has an annoying gloss finish, like the pages of a colour magazine. The colours also crack under creasing, leaving white lines on the finished model. <br /><br />This paper is OK for simple to intermediate models, but would not survive anything more complex than that.

Love it!

Great graphics, fab selection of trainers, well organised and good quality paper to colour on! Bought as a present from my two year old to her Daddy - to share and colour together! Pages can be ripped out if desired so can do the least favourite pics together and save the good ones to do later when her colouring is a tad more precise!

Williwm Morris Stained Glass Colouring Book

This is an excellent and thoroughly enjoyable colouring project for the older colourist. Very intricate and detailed.

Paper Engineering for Dummies

This is a fantastically useful book if you are interested in creating automata, or making greetings cards which go further than merely transmitting good wishes. The illustrations and instructions are clear and comprehensible, but don't insult you by treating you as if you have never seen a pair of scissors before! It does not assume that you necessarily possess a high level of drawing or manual ability, explaining how to solve problems to do with the work, both creative and practical, in a helpful, kindly fashion.<br />I have only one criticism: the paper the book is printed on is a very poor quality woodpulp paper, like the paper free newspapers are printed on. Like them, it will not survive the passage of time very well. I appreciate that the"Dummies" series is keenly produced down to a price, but cheapo is not quite the same as economical, nor can the use of this sort of paper be defended as being particularly ecological. This is a book to keep by you constantly as you work; if it disintegrates after a few years, where would you get another?

Mixed media journaling

This book encourages the reader to experiment with different techniques and has step by step instructions. I found the visual prompts as good as the written ones. I loved the techniques described and enoyed getting my hands messy. The spilling part of journaling very relaxing. The book also teaches how to tame your inner critic and trust yourself.
