Perfect for unnecessary trivia!

For all of those QI fans out there, this is an essential purchase to make. If for no other reason than to keep your memories fresh with all the facts that the wonderful television programme has given us.

Origami

This an excellent introduction to origami for children. The projects are easy to do and the instructions are easy to follow. Children who are able to read would be able to follow some of the instructions themselves, but for other projects may need adult help to explain some folds.

Great Addition to the Game

I really like the compact size and that the type print is still large enough to read fairly easily. It comes in a protective box which means you can store it with the game without worrying the pages might get damaged. It is much easier to pass around players than the big household dictionary and I highly recommend it. We used to use the dictionary only to challenge words now we use this version for learning new words and thus playing a more interesting game of scrabble. It's a good way to get the kids to learn new words.

Rather disappointing

So far nothing like as tough as I had hoped. The Observer Killer Sudoku collection is harder.

Hmm...

I could have cobbled this together from my memory and a few internet searches. Some of the stuff is useful to know, but when you need to know it you can look it up. What is the point of reading a book of random and not particularly interesting information?

Mind Maps for Kids

...brilliant book that is proving to be useful and stimulating, not just a text book!

Great design

This book is great for kids and parents alike. Parents will appreciate the design of the book, we are both visual artists so it appeals to our design sensibilities. Kids will spend hours trying to find the hidden creatures. It's a clever book and one to keep for years to come. We actually bought one and then got one given as a gift, it'll be saved for another offspring! It's a great book even if you don't have kids.

Great puzzle book

Before I bought it I would only occasionally solve sudoku in the newspaper. Once the book arrived, for the first week, I'd spend at least 2h solving puzzles every evening. Some of them are fairly straightforward and easy, for others it takes awhile to figure out an algorithm, few cases are just plainly difficult, but all of them amazingly addictive. Great learning curve. All in all, this book is perfect for everyone to move from labyrinths on backs of cereal boxes to way more interesting stuff.

Good for kids

I bought this book for my 5 year old to take on hoilday with us as he loves puzzles and mazes. Good value for money and a range of activites to keep the young ones busy

Kiss Me Deadly

150 puzzles in the hardest Times collection so far. There are 10 Moderate, 10 Tricky, 30 Tough, and 100 Deadly with the Deadlies having target times between 1 hour and 2 hours 25 minutes. The one negative is that there are too many puzzles that get skipped. A"Moderate" puzzle means too easy to waste time on to people who get their fun with Deadly puzzles.<br /><br />If you want to make things more difficult you might be able to do what I did. I had always been more attracted to Killer than normal Su Doku. I decided it was about time I learnt how to solve normal Su Doku properly. I bought Fiendish Su Doku and worked my way through it, with a few false starts as I learnt how to break through my usual stumbling blocks. Then I bought Fiendish Su Doku 2 and worked through that too. When I went back to Killer I found I was struggling to find my solving skills with this book (ignoring the easy puzzles). In theory the new skills learnt with normal Su Doku should have helped but I had forgotten some of the various ways of solving Killers. I get there in the end but with much longer solving times than previously. <br /><br />I'd never written down the techniques I used for Killers. Didn't think I needed to. But I now realise there are so many techniques that can be used on Killers that an extended distraction on Su Doku makes it difficult to remember them all, or to be able to intuit the right one to use at any particular moment.<br /><br />Oh well, the book is more bangs for my bucks now!

Very helpful book full of helpful tips on how to remember stuff. I was a bit dissapointed that it was only a paperback and that the online shop didnt state that, but otherwise an ideal present for someone.

No need to fight over the Daily Mail

Isn't it annoying when the Daily Mail Crossword has been completed by the rest of the family?<br />Here are plenty to share around with the answers at the back.

A little brain exercise.

We have been getting the Times to share at work mainly for this crossword and the Times 2 quiz. It seemed only sensible to buy this book and I will definitely buy another in the series.

Hours of entertainment

Just does as it says 'on the tin'! If you enjoy the Times2 crosswords you'll find this is an enjoyable way to while away time :-)

You get a lot for your money, but its pretty generic

Look there's 5000 questions here, and you can't argue with that. Still, how useful and enjoyable you find this depends very much on your level as a quizzer. If you're a mildly interested pub quizzer, then this is probably just about right for you. If you're a total beginner then this might be a little off putting for you at first, but it will help you improve. If you're a serious or even fairly serious quizzer, then the questions here are pretty generic, in as much as you'll have heard many of them many, many, many times before. So for me its middle of the road stuff.

Daily Telegraph cryptic cossword book 64

I like these Daily Telegraph cryptic crosswords but I'm disappointed with this edition. The product description stated that it has 200 crosswords but the book only has 80. Still good value!
