Can a *ghost* tempt a deadly Vampire out of total darkness?.....or is he simply far too mad?
Dangerous 'turned' vampire, Conrad Wroth, is imprisoned by his brothers in an abandoned mansion. Controlled by his bloodlust and plagued by the horrific memories of his victims, the mercenary slowly edges closer to insanity. There, on the eerie estate, a beautiful confined phantom, Neomi, haunts the grounds. A spirit that no one can see, touch or hear. An insignificant being. That is, until she discovers that there is one person who can *see* her. A force deep within Conrad calls to this woman. But he can't seem to resist the extreme pull of his darker side. And a desperate Neomi longs to be *bodily* again, willing to do anything. Their needs and desires will them to be together. If only that were possible.

Another great installment in The Immortals After Dark series. Unlike its predecessor, Wicked Deeds On A Winter's Night, this book can be read as a stand alone. Although I recommend reading the series in order because the other books are just so darn good!

Also unlike in all the other books, the hero starts out as a completely vile villain. But Cole (author) manages to make him a sympathetic character without somehow losing his dark edge. And Neomi is another eyebrow raising character for a heroine -no body. Huh? -what are the love scenes like? You won't get it from me! ;). So both characters are similar due to there own uniqueness from any I've ever read. Two people (if you will) looking for something they may likely never be able to have because of physical (Neomi) and mental (Conrad) roadblocks. How sad is that!

And as usual, along with those great characterizations, steamy love scenes and intriguing plot, there are plenty of interesting surprises and tons of teasers for future books (especially the next one, Dark Desires After Dusk). Previous couples also make appearances, markedly Mariketa & Bowen (who else is in love with this werewolf?).

So Dark Needs At Nights Edge is another keeper for me. Hmmmm....demons are next. Wonder whats up with those horns -*wiggling eyebrows* ;). LOL!4

A bit rubbish actually
I've read quite a few Jill Mansell books and although you can usually guess the ending after the first two chapters, they're usually still a really enjoyable, light-hearted read.

However, this was unbearably bad. The characters were flat and incredibly hard to like, let alone care about. The male lead comes across as cold and haughty and its very hard to see what Lola sees in him. And the ending was very rushed, with the issue of Doug's mother smoothed over in the most unbelievable way.

I was really disappointed.
5

I absolutely loved this book, it is the best Louise Bagshawe book yet and I have read all of them!
The characters are described in depth so you can just picture them, she describes all of their outfits, but most of all the storyline is brilliant!

I couldn't put this book down and read it in 2 days.
Buy it!!8

Another book, another great review...
Sophie Kinsella is a legend - there is no other description. If you are new to the wonders of Miss Kinsella, this will make you a die-hard fan. Alright, the Shopaholic series is by far her best work but this little delight is nothing short of brilliant. Emma is a typical 20-something girl who wants the great things in life but lacks the confidence to seek them. She works for a global organisation as a marketing assistant along with her boyfriend and together they make the 'perfect couple' ..or do they? On a flight to Glasgow for a business meeting, she expereiences some turbulence and i'm not just talking about the flight. Suddenly she finds her self spilling her entire lifes worth of secrets to a total stranger and thats when Emma's life takes a bumpy ride straight into the arms of Jack Harper. The stranger on the plane? Well not so much a stranger when it turns out he is the founder and owner of that global organisation she works at...

Read it, you'll love it!!10

Insightful, witty, an amazing book
I love this book and have read it many, many times - despite not being an addict, I identify with Rachel in so many ways, it made me feel better knowing I wasn't alone in this! This is a beautiful book because it is light hearted and funny, but doesn't skip over the darker subjects of addiction, desperation and neediness. It is a very witty piece of writing, I can't tell you how clever the prose is, with quirky metaphors and intriguing descriptions. Buy it now!11

Very average
Not that well written, and Gerritsen's style has improved in the intervening years. Very shallow, and full of so many cliches - like the hero and heroine never thinking they'd see each other again about a dozen times in the book. Moves fast, but extremely routine thriller.12

Un-put-downable!
I couldn't wait to get to the end of the book to see how Becky B managed to untangle herself from the double wedding fiasco! Having said that I didn't want the book to end. This is not my favourite in the Shopaholic series but still a great, funny and intriguing read!13

Don't bother
Was bought this as a pressie - have liked other Sophie Kinsella books but I was just desperate to give Beck Bloomwood a good slap. Another reviewer says she"is just like an ordinary person" - boy am I glad I don't live in her world.
Avoid, unless you like irritating, superficial"heroines".14

Fantastic!
I don't want to go on for a long time like most reviews. I just have to say if you like romance with a bit of spice and fantastic characters, this is the best. I've read alot of books before and after reading this one, but A Hunger Like No Other is still my all time fave, without a dought! Very erotic and sexy with a hero to die for. Look out for the rest of the immortals after dark series (they re all fantastic) READ IT!15

Dreadful
This is quite possibly the most badly written book I have ever attempted to read. It is full of stock characters, the attractive but crippled university professor who, of course falls at"first sight" for the plucky but formerly battered wife who has started a new life with her protective son. The writing itself is of the most cliched type:"This was serious electricity","The need to kiss her lips was overwhelming","the leggy redhead". All this in half a page and so it goes on, presumably throughout the novel, although I had to give up after the first 150 pages. I gave the book one star because of the plot, although even that is not original concerning, as it does, a brutal husband who surprise, surprise is a police officer, searching for the wife and child who have now made a new life after faking their disappearance. If you want to read a romantic thriller, stick to Mary Higgins Clark. She may be fairly predictable but at least she can write a bit.17

"Lords of the Underworld" series book 1
When Pandora was chosen by the Greek Gods to protect dimOuniak; a scared box containing demons too destructive even to be trusted in Hell, other warriors, those that guarded the King of the Gods were left embarrassed. Determined to prove their skills, these Guardians stole the box and unwittingly released the most vile demons imaginable into an unsuspecting world; unable to recapture them as Pandora's box had mysteriously disappeared. In retaliation and to prevent further destruction in the world, the Gods cursed these warriors to each contain a demon within their bodies throughout eternity; creating the Lords of the Underworld.

Maddox is not only cursed to house the spirit of Violence within him, he is further cursed by the Gods for the death of Pandora; slaughtering her unknowingly whilst under the control of his demon. Every night at midnight he is killed by Reyes (who houses the demon Pain) and his soul is escorted to Hell by Lucien (who contains Death). Constantly battling for control over his demon, Maddox is left unable to form any meaningful relationship; always worried that Violence could explode during a moment of heated passion. Yet both he and his demon are destined to meet a very special woman; a woman capable of taming Violence, twisting his darkness into sensuality and his destructive nature into a deep possessiveness. For once Maddox and Violence are in perfect agreement; Ashlyn Darrow has captured the heart of both man and demon.

Ashlyn Darrow is utilised by an Institute that studies the paranormal for her ability to hear any conversation ever spoken in any given location, no matter how long ago it was or the language used. Yet she longs for silence and a normal life and searches for someone who could possibly train her to control her gift. Whilst in Budapest she encounters conversations of a group of men with strange abilities so seeks them out hoping they can help her. Unfortunately the men she looks for believe her to be Bait, a beautiful woman used to lure a warrior to his death by a group of mortals known as Hunters. This organisation has one goal only; to destroy the Lords of the Underworld and the demons they contain.

I've got to say this may be GS's best book yet, and that's quite an accomplishment considering how much I have enjoyed her"Atlantis" and"Alien Huntress" series. "The Darkest Night" made me smile, laugh and during one particularly emotive chapter featuring an event Maddox is helpless to prevent; blub like a baby. Ashlyn too faces her own horrors; namely the nightly murder of the man she loves; leaving her determined to break Maddox's curse at any cost.

From the first page, GS skillfully draws the reader into an exciting new paranormal world. Her heroes certainly have their dark sides, Disease, Wrath, Promiscuity, Lies and Disaster amongst others, all with individual torments created by their unbreakable bond to their personal demon. The adventure is none stop as the splintered tribes of the Lords of the Underworld unite to battle the Hunters that stalk them and the romance between Maddox and Ashlyn absolutely perfect; ranging from tender to heartbreaking to blazingly hot in all the right places. I finished the last page of this book with a deep sigh of satisfaction and have already pre-ordered"The Darkest Kiss" (Lucien's story due for pub. June 08) and"The Darkest Pleasure" (Reyes' story due for pub. July 08), whose love interest is introduced in this book.
18

Funniest of the series
I loved this book. Becky is as annoying as ever as she reverts to her shopaholic ways (not seen so much in Ties the Knot) but I just love seeing how she gets herself out of those situations where you think that Luke is eventually going to go completely crazy at her. He really does have the patience of a Saint. OK, the end with the sister is a little predictable but not totally since you don't know what will tip the scales to them being able to communicate with each other!!

Also, I kind of liked that she and Suze were not best friends anymore - that is so true to life....one friend gets married and has kids and starts hanging around with other mothers and you lose your place as"best" friend, especially when you go away for months on end. I'm sure it's happened to every woman of a certain age!!

Can't wait to read the next installment.19

Fantastic read as like the entire shopaholic series!!!!!!!!!
Just to set the record straight, I only ever read Crime and Thiller books,(as they were the only books in my house growing up), and i was certain these were the only books i was ever going to read until i picked up 'The dreamworld of a shopahoilc' as it was on sale and i needed a new book, and i must say this book changed my reading life forever.

From the day i picked up 'The dreamworld of a shopahoilc' to last page of 'Shopaholic and Baby' i have loved and never put down the books. Especially this one! The fact that Becky has been through a lot in the first four books from borrowing money from the bank, including £20 from Luke Brandon to buy a Denny&George scarf to moving countries to getting married and finding out about her half sister, this book put the icing on the cake for me as Becky goes through what i call, (how do i put it without ruining the book??) a 'interesting' pregnancy.

For a very slow reader, I read all 5 books within the space of 1 month max and now have an insatiable appetite for books within this genre.

Possibly the best book if not joint 1st along with 'Shopaholic ties the knot', this book/series is definately worth the money and the time!20

Lovely, and Effortlessly powerful.
I have been a fan of Marian Keyes since I picked up a copy of 'The Other Side of the Story' that someone had left lying around, and couldn't ever put it back down. (Not as bad as it sounds- was at school and obtained permission to keep it.) As the books have gone on, they have certainly become darker in some ways; I cried when reading 'Anybody Out There', and this newest book has its dark notes. But at the same time it is perfectly balanced with humour and hope. The end is beautiful, both at the same time wonderfully hopeful and happy, and yet tinged with the knowledge that not everything can be perfect. Marian Keyes goes from strength to strength, and this book is possibly one of the best in an outstanding set of books.
