SPIN Selling was based on research done by Neil Rackham on thousands of salespeople in several countries over an extensive period of time. The results of the research provided an insight into how the best salespeople operate. Like the discovery of NLP in the 1970's then SPIN techniques were already being used in the field, they just hadn't been broken down and named so they weren't being taught as such.<br /><br />Even before SPIN most salespeople knew that they ought to ask questions and listen more ("Two ears, one mouth"!) but many perhaps did not know where to go with their questions to get the most effective results. Rackham for example explains how after speaking with many decision makers he discovered that simple Situation based questions can turn a decision maker off as they feel that they are educating the salesperson. Previously most salespeople may well have believed that these were building rapport!<br /><br />In the SPIN methodology Rackham outlines how the salesperson should progress from Situation questions to Problem questions to Implication questions to Needs questions. This method is well explained and easily executable by someone with reasonable intelligence and a commitment to practising the techniques. The material will need tailoring for the individual and the industry however this would be expected with any methodology aimed at salespeople in general. Purchasing the SPIN Selling Fieldbook at the same time is worthwhile and will certainly help you to do this as it gets you to create your own questions and is full of tests and checks to ensure that you really have understoood the concepts and can apply them.<br /><br />SPIN Selling is in my opinion a MUST READ for salespeople as the vast majority of sales systems in the marketplace today span off from SPIN (despite what some of them might say!). If you haven't got your own copy of SPIN then you should get one and read it.<br /><br />Footnote: Some peoople deride SPIN saying that it is now outdated and has been improved upon. I disagree. True there are other options out there including my own"Ingham Sales System" and these systems are all slightly different with different structuring and key points however... I would still recommend all salespeople to read SPIN. If there were"must-read" texts for salespeople this book would still be in my top 10.<br />63

As a fledging life coach I must say that the marketing side of the business was the scariest area to contemplate. After looking at Hannahs marketing website and being impressed with that I decided to buy the book. I am very glad that I did. It is presented clearly and concisely with an appropriate amount of humour. You'll need to buy the book to find this out but I suspect not many marketing books mention ducks!!! It is not dry and it is crystal clear that Hannah sure knows her stuff. It has exercises that you can do to build up your plans and work towards your goals. I bought mine from her website and she had kindly signed it, a sign to me that she cares about her business and who she connects with. <br /><br />If you are going to buy one book on marketing for coaches then make it this one.67

This is a useful guide to one of the hottest subjects in sales: selling solutions, not products. Author Keith M. Eades offers a methodical, step-by-step approach to implementing a conversational approach to selling. The principles underlying"solution selling" are simple and straightforward, and the process is hard to fault, although it demands a great deal of record keeping and charting. The author's explanation of the procedures gets a bit mechanical and jargon-riddled at times. An excellent quick fix
This book gives excellent up-front tips and strategies ideal for anybody who is stuck in a rut and needs a few ideas. I read this book in 2 days and it had an immediate impact on my attitude and determination. Amazing, better than the rest
I'm reviewing this book because I'm astounded it has no reviews here so far. This book is amazing! I've paid a lot more for similar"lots of logos" books, such as Tres Logos, but the format, design, quantity and quality provided by this book blows them all away. <br /><br />"Logo Design Now" is a nice solid book, clocking in at almost 400 pages, on heavy paper. The cover is made of card and gives the book a very authoritative feel. The spine is also well designed and makes it easy to flick through the book, despite its thickness, and without feeling like you're destroying the binding. An elasticated band is also provided that acts to either help keep the book shut or to mark out pages you're interested in. In any case, it makes the book look more expensive than it is, and certainly cooler than, say, Tres Logos.<br /><br />Unlike most of the other logo books, Logo Design Now devotes the first 140 - 150 pages to highlighting specific logos and rebranding projects, featuring interviews with the companies and designers, and showing the logos in various uses. After this, you move onto the standard arrangement of ten or so logos per page, organized into categories like"Creative Industry","Fashion & Apparel" and"Music". The logos chosen are consistently strong with a definite focus on smaller companies (including Web sites), modern designs, and lots of color.<br /><br />All in all, I'm over the moon with this find.76

A book to refer to time and again
This is a sumptuous book with an infectous enthusiasm for all things edible and decorative. It has become a firm favourite of mine. It offers loads of ideas of combinations, both formal and informal, which will work in gardens small and large, and the author conveys confidence in her readers' creative abilities which makes you yearn to have a go. She encourages experimentation and letting plants run to flower and seed, with disdain for the rigidly controlled potager. There is a detailed section at the back including 'planning for succession' for year round produce and beauty, and a 'directory' for detailed information on plant requirements and habits. The paper is fine quality and the wealth of pictures are gorgeous. A really lovely book.
