I'm OK -- You're OK
I read this book back in the '60's and it has been a great help in my life. I am giving a book report on it next week in class. I have just recently returned to school at the age of 59. Career Management Class is requiring a short book report on self-improvement. I sincerely believe that this book is a great asset to help anyone with self-improvement, ant that's the reason I have choosen it for my report.63

True life tragic irony
Great book, as a reader you can really absorb the frustrations faced daily by the ambulance service and gain a perspective of front line tragedy and glory. Feeling genuine anger when you read an ambulance has been called for a sore finger!

This is a good look at modern bureacracy and its failings, the passion to help within the service being smothered by red tape and targets - why is saving someone 2 minutes after your target ETA a failure? yet reaching someone well within your time who subsequently dies is a success?

We should educate children with this stuff. Very good read.64

Nothing new here (if you've got the texbook that is)
Whilst the textbook in the same series may seem bright, colourful and easy to understand- don't expect the same quality from this revision guide. If you've got the textbook in this series they have just taken the same examples, questions and put them into a dreary and reptitive book that covers the same material in the same way. If you don't have the textbook from this series or are looking for a quick reminder of things- then buy it- otherwise its not worth your money.65

Superb little book
I wouldn't be without this book - it's so clear to use.
A generous helping of diagrams make it far more user-friendly than the On-Site Guide or BS7671. Very helpful if you do electrical work on a professional basis. It's a shame that the wiring regs have to read like a phone directory compared to books like this.68

In summary i think this book misses the point, rather then actually giving the reader task on how to improve memory contructively, it prefers to be vauge and aims to do too much and achieves very little.

Very accessible introduction to quantum theory
Most popular science books presume the reader has an almost college level grasp of physics. This one doesn't. I really haven't ever read a book that deals with quantum theory in such an accessible way.

Marcus Chown steers clear of anekdotes and side steps, confining himself to basic explaining, the way a highschool teacher would do. No-one who already has some knowledge of the subject will learn anything new from this book, but it's an almost perfect stepping stone.72

Look no further
If you are going to buy one book for your Chemistry A-level, then without doubt get this one. All the calculations you will ever need are explained here in detail, with plenty of worked-through examples, questions and crucially, answers (a lot of textbooks have lots of exercises but no means to check them). The answers are also worked through, with pointers towards parts that are potentially problematic, so that you can see where you went wrong.

The layout and formatting of the book is extremely user-friendly, with helpful notes in the margin - but not overly friendly/personal such that relevant information is masked by waffle. Moreover, it is not only calculations; the book explains some of the key concepts and content as well (the chapter on redox equilibria is particularly excellent - everything in this complex topic became clear after reading the book).

Jim Clark's website, Chemguide, is also fantastic as well. I cannot praise the man enough!73

Approximately one year ago I was at a complete loss on a problematic report I was developing in a peace of software, a co-worker recommended I read the Statistics for Dummies and lent me his book. That evening I glanced over the book to quickly locate exactly what was required. The following morning I solved the problem within 30 minutes. I was so taken back with the transparency of the descriptions and straightforwardness of the explanations in the book I acquired a copy for myself on Amazon that very week.
This book lives not on the shelf but on my desk at hand with a select few.
I am at this time here on Amazon looking to acquire a further copy to exchange my original paperback which is now a little scruffy so while here I thought a quick review was well warranted.
Final note, if you ’ re a student or an accountant, an educator or a developer or anyone whom needs to use statistics I highly recommend this book to you.
Statistics are actuality extremely straightforward when explained by someone who truly understands them such as Deborah Rumsey the author of this excellent and easy to understand book.

A lot of common sense
This book makes sense of the chemistry of the human body. After only 3 weeks of drinking filtered water with added 'bleach' I have shed almost a stone, and feel better than I have done for years. It takes a little forward planning to maintain an interesting diet based on salads, but the clean fresh feeling inside is well worth it. Minimising sugary fruits also makes sense if one is suffering from a yeast infected gut, but with tomatoes, avocados, lemons, cherries and limes as recommended, and apples as acceptable, eating fruit is not a thing of the past. The book makes for good reading, especially the case testimonies.77
Review:
Thanks to this book I finally undestood everything that is needed about calories, proteins, carbs etc. Ever more- I learned how to easily calculate nutrients my own and how to control whether my diet is balanced or not. The author nicely demonstrates what are all these nutrients, where they are used in our body and from which food you can get them.
The only limitation of this book is related to measurements it uses ounces and pounds instead of grams and kilos- I had difficulties with them.
My favorite chapters were on food supplements, including vitamins where the author shows advantages and disadvantages of using them. (Did you know that too mych C vitamin is too bad for health?)

An excellent book on nutrition! Compared to other books on nutrition that make you feel guitly while you read them, the joyful tone of this book inspires to change your bad eating habbits to more healthy ones without hurting your self-esteem and changing your lifestyle. Moreover, the author demonstrates, how to eat healthier without making a revolution in your fridge or looking stupid in a restoraunt. Thanks to this book I finally undestood everything that is needed about calories, proteins, carbs etc. Ever more- I learned how to easily calculate nutrients my own and how to control whether my diet is balanced or not. I have tried a few times to read this book and dont think it makes ECGs all that easy, but then I do find them very hard!! I wish I had looked aroud more for something easier to read and perhaps more in depth, as I dont think there is enough info to explain properly. BUT, I have not found another simple ECG book, so perhaps this is the best there is80

A nice read
This is one of the many books I have on dog training and although a pleasant read and with lots of common sense in it, both myself and my friends who have read the book agree that although we enjoyed it and agreed with it, it certainly wasn't our 'dog training bible'. But maybe as we all have (luckily) the good fortune to have dogs with no problems and who we were able to train easily we aren't the best judges. For fully understanding the dog, how to get into its mind and how to get the most out of it this certainly isn't the best in our opinion.
