1960s scrap book - very helpful

i found this book very helpful as i used it for many essays throughout school. it has many helpful facts but it wasnt just used by me it was used throughout the familly. my parents loved looking at all the old magazines and items in it. i loved it and it was worth every pennny

An excellent little book.

I borrowed this book from the library, and was so impressed with it I bought my own copy. I wasn't a complete novice when I bought it by any means, but it gave me quite a number of new ideas. I dip in and out of it quite often actually. Some very useful website addresses in it too. A very useful addition to any scrapbookers library.

Getting nearer to yesterday

Mister Opie's tenth wonderful Scrapbook carries on with the same unique presentation, each themed spread has one big still-life photo filled with packaging and printed matter. The items are carefully arranged so you can get an appreciation of what they looked like and don't be put off because the book has only sixty-two pages, it opens up to spreads twenty-one inches wide by fifteen deep and includes 1400 items in color. <br /><br />Like the other Scrapbooks what is shown is the everyday stuff that could be found in any British home and as this is the Seventies, one spread is devoted to the change to decimal currency in 1971. The spread for groceries and the one for cleaning and toiletries probably show more than two hundred examples of packaging. Pop music with four spreads is a bit too much though. The list just goes on, fashion, television, cigarette packets, comics, film posters, board games, confectionary, car brochures, football, magazine and newspapers and more and more. Every time I look through these Scrapbooks I find something I hadn't noticed before. <br /><br />If you are interested in what printed matter and packaging was in the average home during the Seventies this book will show you. <br />

Great book

I just LOVE this book! Good layout ideas and properly explained for the beginner. I find myself referring to this book again and again and again. Especially when I think my LO's are getting 'busy' looking, it makes me rethink my LO to get a page that is much cleaner and keep focus on pic that the Lay Out was intended for in the first place. Highly recommended from me,( a beginner!)

The flavour of Spain

This book is an excellent reference book for people spending holidays or permanently living within the Murcia region.My wife is Spanish and is very impressed as reading the book will greatly assist in settling in to the Spanish way of life . Recommendations for eating out and recipes were good <br />choices and all worth a visit<br />

The Best Scrapbook Ever Made..?

In 1946 having presumed Henri Cartier-Bresson dead, a posthumous exhibition of his work was prepared in New York. It also shows the context in which he chose to put it. Additonal information is provided by a wonderfully written forward by Martine Franck an introduction by Agnes Sire and an essay by Michel Frizot <br /><br />In summary this book is a thing of beauty and a wonderful glimpse into the world of one of photography's true greats. It's also a book I fully expect to visit again and again. If you are an afficionado of Bresson you will still find this book a valuable addition to your library. If you have never been introduced to Henri Cartier-Bresson then this book will knock your socks off.

time travel is possible!

fancy a trip back to the 1950s? climb into your time machine open the front cover and you're there,pay a visit to a sweet shop you can pick up a tiffin bar for 6d or frys 5 boys for 3d, pop into the chemists for some gleem toothpaste this is a magical ride through the '50s crammed with over 1000 sumptiously photographed products, some are still going strong today others lost in the mists of time .a fabulous book

Great Collectables, moderatley good Text

Dont Get me wrong, for a beginner at wanting to explore Dylan's most vital and interesting period of music making, this item is excellent. Yet for me, someone who is utterley obsessed with the guy, this item provided little more than a fleeting interest. Sure, the pull out extras such as reprinted tickets, posters and photos etc are brilliantly interesting and provide a sense of nostalgia for those who may have been around in the 60's, and a set of great artefacts for younger fans, however, the writings behind the pull outs provide little extra knowledge to those who know much about Bobby.<br /><br />It is well written to be fair and easy to follow the sometimes confusing journey from Folk poet to Electric Messiah and the best thing is the interviews with those who were around at the time, which do provide insight and an interesting backround to Dylans transformation. The chaptering does tend to slice Dylans change into albums, whereas in truth, those who know much about Dylan know that it was not this simple. It covers little ground which No Direction Home does in more detail, and of course can't bring together the Music as Scorcese's documentary did. The portion on 1956-60 is however great in showing Bob's early influences and you learn about his love of Little Richard and so on.<br /><br />In conclusion, a great great scrapbook for completists and collectors and those who want to learn about this fascinating period and who know little. For those who want more indepth info, get Chronicles and watch Dont Look Back and No Direction Home<br />

Fabulous for Inspiration

This book isn't going to teach you how to make a page, or any techniques. However it is an absolutely fabulous book for inspiration.<br /><br />The dares (of the blog of the same name) set you challenges to scrap the good, bad and ugly sides of life. There are a huge number of pages done on the themes and these in themselves can provide inspiration.<br /><br />I personally love this book, it challenges and inspires in equal measure.

This has got to be one of the best books on Jim Morrison yet! Full of pictures I'd never seen before and the hiddden envelopes inside have many hidden gems!

Inspiring beyond my expectations

I am a scrapaholic but was never really sure of my style. But reading this book helped me realise that I prefer the simple, clean, graphic design style of scrapbooking and reading it was a truly wonderful experience. I refer to it over and over again. Cannot rate Mrs Zielske enough!

Great Value for Money

I am new to scrapbooking and I bought this kit for my first attempt. I am really impressed at what you get for the money! The album itself isn't fancy but because the cover is of a brown recycled material, you can decorate it to look however you want it to look rather than be stuck with a colour or a theme!<br /><br />I was amazed to see that the pack included crinkle cut scissors together with plastic and cardboard templates, card, paper, glue, and mounts.<br /><br />I think that this item represents excellant value for money and I will be buying the kit again and again for other projects. <br /><br />I would definately recommend this item.

Fascinating! A Must Read For Anyone Who Loves History!

When I saw this book, I knew I was going to love it. It includes page after page of nostalgic and evocative images of over 1000 items that shaped the Second World War.<br />They range from a photo of a Wartime larder, to photos of genuine wartime sweets and chocolate to photos of some of the newspapers that brandish many of the headlines that act as turning points that changed the whole course of the War. <br />Along side each page of vivid images, is an informative yet interesting explanation about the items on the page which gives you a true unterstanding of them.<br />If all this wasn't enough, then there is also a useful wartime timeline at the end of the book.<br />If you are interested by history of any kind, then this great book will interest and fascinate you for many, many years to come. Go on, find out about this extremely important turning point in history!<br />
