What a great compilation of short pieces; whitty, warm and thoughtful. His use of the english language is stunning. Jonathan Raban remains at his best in these works. When will he next travel to Britain to speak about his writings...? I look forward to that.

Health warning!!! buy one and you will want them all

My review on this one is exactly the same for all of the Opie scrap books. They are wonderful but be prepared to discover that when you have bought the first scrapbook,you will want the lot!! A useful and colourful set of books, like no other, making all these periods come deliciously alive.

What have we lost?

Purchased for my interest in the time when our house was built, and an interest in the time when my mother was born, this proved to be such a rich source of history, ephemera, fashions and fads of the time. My mother could not put it down, and told me so many stories with her memory jolted by the great images packed into the huge pages. I've learned so much from it, and now I want other books like this! The"old school" social history has been knocked out by this rich story with illustrations of everyday life. Wonderful.

Fabulous inspiration!

This is the most inspirational book I have bought in years and I'm thrilled with it. I am primarily a card maker rather than a scrapper but this book will sit well within both camps. Very clear and filled with tips, hints and fabulous photographs. It's simply outstanding!

Brilliant book brings back wonderful memories, if you are stuck for a present for a grandma or grandad they will love it.

Not upto much

New to Scrapbooking, I thought that this book would help me on my way. There isn't very much in it and I found buying a couple of mags and a couple of websites much more productive.

Good But Not Great!

I bought this book a few months ago and I was in part disappointed and in part surprised! The book is good for absolute beginners but is not choc-a-block of completely creative ideas for others! Since I have been scrapbooking for some time, I was disappointed to see the same old 'typical craft magazine contents' rehashed and put into this book. <br />But there are also some fun and inspiring ideas and layouts! Some fresh takes on old ideas are also inspiring! On the whole, not a great book but can definitely recommend it for beginners.<br />

A passion for photography

A masterpiece, but you need to be very interested in Cartier Bresson to not just leave it lying around on the coffee table...A beautiful gift for passionate photographers

Handy cards

An excellent book, really well laid out, useful information and really handy cards which are pocket sized so that I can take them with me when going to choose my papers at the scrapbooking shop. Certainly value for money and would recommend this to everyone - has inspiration when you are struggling for layouts.

My title says it all, it's fun to read, it's fun to read together, it's fun to give it to your friends. It's a great bargain, the book looks very nice, you can see that there is ome great effort in making this book.<br /><br />a must have for any Wallace and Gromit fan.

Inspiring

This is a very good craft book with lots of inspiration for travel scrapbooks and lots of different styles for large pages, mini albums, scrapbook layouts etc. I really liked it
