A GREAT BOOK for anyone who wants to be GREAT!

My Great Daughter bought me the Gold Edge hardcopy of this Book in 1994. It was one of the greatest Christmas presents I have ever received. We can learn alot from these great leaders. Peggy has compiled a Great diversity in Great Leaders. A mentor for everyone.

One of the most accessible and influential books on Coaching

In this highly influential book, Sir John Whitmore describes what he believes coaching is, how it can be used, and the skills required for coaching. Whitmore also outlines his GROW model which can be used both in a personal, corporate and team context. <br /><br />Chapters 1 to 4 <br />explore what coaching is <br /><br />Chapters 5 and 6 <br />look at the skills of questioning <br /><br />Chapters 7 to 10 <br />introduce Whitmore's GROW model - Goals, Reality,Options and Will<br /><br />Subsequent chapters discuss a range of topics - including motivation, coaching the corporation, feedback and assessment and coaching teams. Change your strategy and get it!!!

After having done two previous years without this book, everything became much clearer for me when I had this book in my posession. Everything is discribed very clearly and in a simple to read language. Not like Mintzberg's: The strategy Process.
A very good buy

Mezrich Nails It

History, they say, is written by the winners and this account of the genesis of Facebook on the Harvard campus is largely seen through the eyes of computer geek Mark Zuckerberg and his pal Eduardo Saverin, who had access to angel cash necessary to get the project off the ground. The Winklevoss twins Cameron and Tyler, both Olympic oarsmen, also loom large in the early chapters. They subsequently sued Zuckerberg, alleging that he had ripped off their code, and they have been paid substantial sums to go away. Once Facebook took off, there were other litigants too, but in the author's version Zuckerberg has the bright idea himself. Mezrich is especially good on describing the Harvard milieu and its elite clubs, which formed a backdrop for the Facebook nerds trying to make an impression. Mezrich holds the book together by focusing on the friendship between Zuckerberg and Saverin, which also sundered as the company accelerated into its growth phase and the VCs came on board.

game theory for everyone

Very good introduction to the practical application of game theory.This is an update of their first book.Its well written and thought provoking.Best book on the subject for laypeople I've read so far.

Important stuff you need to know

I've always been concerned over how to survive in times of disrupted energy, food or water supplies. This book provides excellent advice in preparing for, and managing, survival when 'all hell breaks loose'. This is not a survival book in the bushcraft style, but it offers sensible and practical advice for your survival in times of power failure or scarcity of food and water. <br />A brilliant book.

One of the best

Great book. It is an excellent guide. It is clearly laid out and explains in detail how to build a property portfolio without falling into the traps. I think it is commendable how the authour started off from small beginnings and then used the equity in her own home to build such an empire. I admire the way she shares her mistakes but passes on valuable advice in helping others not to do so. Its more than just a book...its a bible!

Misleading feedback

Strange how all the Brad Sugars titles are reviewed by Action Coach members, don't take my word for it, take the reviewer's name & action coach & do a search on google.<br /><br />Bit poor really! Really goes against what the whole Amazon feedback form is all about!

a must read to understand permaculture

I first read graham's book when I knew very little about permaculture. This book gave me a real.understanding about the ethics and practice of UK permaculture. It has an accessible style and is an easy way to understand heavy socio-environmental concepts. Recommended read.

Wonderfully readable portraits of great entrepreneurs.

For anyone with even a casual interest in business, Daniel Gross's book offers a wonderfully readable set of prose portraits of some of history's great entrepreneurs.

A book that lives up to it's name

"Why is Small Business Marketing So Hard?"<br /><br />That is the question first posed in this book. Author, John Jantsch has come up with a crackerjack book for all owner managers of small businesses with the answers.<br /><br />If you are struggling to attract the right type of customers or clients the author offers practical help.<br /><br />An Instant Classic.<br /><br />Go buy it.

Surprised

This was on the reading list for my Uni course and when it arrived I was a bit hesitant to think that I will ever use it, as I am a mature student it reminded me of school text books. I have however used it for one of my essays and out of many books found it to be more useful that others. <br />I think that students just coming out of school or maybe even in college would appreciate the work book format more than I did as they can learn about developing their learning and motivations to learn through using this book.

Great Breadth and a Top Down Approach

I bought the event managers bible because I am involved in running a twice yearly event which is growing fast and I needed to get up to speed and see what else I would need to consider as I went further with this. The book offers an excellent and broad overview into the planning and executing of the mechanics of an event - it covers a lot of practical detail, and gives a really complete picture of everything involved. I'll be passing the book to my colleagues on the event (or sending them to the how-to-books website, where you can read all the text of this book).<br /><br />It's clear that the author has a lot of practical experience in this field and it shows through in a lot of very practical and accessible tips (I now know, know for example, how to work out how many cars can park in a given sized field). In all the practical elements of putting on an event from the event manager's point of view, I felt that this book started at the very top level and went into just enough detail to ensure that I would be confident in knowing what I was doing.<br /><br />My only criticisms, which are minor are around the editing where there's some sections which are rather longwinded and some sections are repeated.<br /><br />Note that if you're looking for a book focussing on the less practical elements - the design of the event, programme, marketing etc, then this book isn't strong in those areas, it's much more a practical handbook for ensuring that an event runs smoothly and safely - which is exactly what I was looking for.

Terrific Book

I'm self-employed, once pretty successful (by my standards) but, more recently, I have really been struggling. I was watching the Michael Ball show out of the corner of my eye, and heard Mel talking about her book on the show. I instantly ordered it, and a week later, after reading Mel's book, I already feel soooo much more positive. The stories of the women inside this book are so inspiring, and I realise I can do it too. I've signed up for a coaching programme and I've come up with a new plan as to how I'll take things forward. Scary, but also very exciting. And it's all thanks to this book.

The 'basics' are all there

This book is a handy guide to those just starting in network marketing. The basics are all there and it has some very good advice. But, as with so many others of this type of book, it is written for the American market and obviously has a non-UK feel to it. However,I knew this when I bought it and I was not disappointed by the topics covered. On the whole, this book is worth having but, whilst it's close, it's still not got that homely feel for those trading in the UK marketplace.

Starting your own childmnding business

I am now registered childminder, just waiting for my certificate from Ofted. I found this book very helpful and I really recommend this book to all childminders or becoming a childminder.

I doubt that a finer work exists.

The author has done a fantastic job: all aspects of negotiation are covered. I have learnt a lot from this book. If I could have given it 10 stars then I would have done so.

Good Small Business Guide 2010

It is what it says it is.....good!<br />A gem of a book, easy to read with lots of references. A must for anyone taking their first steps in to the world of small businesses.
