PopUp map I have used. Found the local free maps to have a more acurate scale and have more information. Very disappointed with this particular PopUp but have found others to be fantastic!

More information on Austrian wines

As in most wine books, I find that Austrian Wines are generally ignored or overlooked by the wine writers. This book is no exception. It does devote a few pages to the wines of Austria but perhaps because of the writers lack of knowledge, ignores the fantastic wine regions of the Weinviertel and Steiermark where some of Austria's best wines are produced. Nearly a third of the book is handed over to the wines of France; perhaps a bit more research should be spent on the other wine producing countries/regions of the world other than that of France which, are starting to dominate the world wine markets. A good read but certainly not worth a 5 star star rating.

Map of the world

I received this product and am unhappy about the picture on the website and the actual map I received. It is not an exact image to what was received as it has no cities marked on and not as much detail. Its not as good as it looks in the picture.<br /><br />

Exceptional

This book is very good at explaining the origins of the Celts. I have widely read on this subject and I believe this to be one of the most concise accounts of the spread of Celtic culture and language throughout Europe. It charts the impacts of the Celts on other civilisations and the current state of Celtic culture which, thought to be in its twilight, is now seeing a resurgence.

Persian gulf always belong to iran

This Atlas is inaccurate and changed many of the historical (genuine) geographic names of the places and waterways based on the political believes of the National Geographic Society staff. Purchase another Atlas which it would become reliable resource of truthful information for you.

Review of Philip's Atlas of the World

The naming of Philip's Atlases is confusing as there are many different similar sounding titles in the range. This atlas was until recently, the largest Philips Atlas and was called the Philip's World Atlas. It has now been renamed Philip's Atlas of the World and the name Philip's World Atlas is used for a much smaller atlas. The Philip's Universal Atlas has taken over as the largest of the Philip's World Atlas (see seperate review) but is in fact largely based on the Philips Atlas of the World, with the addition of extra plates of North America, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan. The binding of the Philip's Universal Atlas is poor as the spine has been glued as in a paperback rather than sewn as is the Atlas of the World and it is impossible to read the centre of the plates.<br /><br />The Philip's Atlas of the World is in my opinion a better atlas due mainly to the better binding in my version (but I cannot guarantee that this will not change in the future). This atlas is more balanced than the Universal which is a much larger work but devotes most of its extra 127 pages to North America. For Europe, South America, Asia and Africa they are virtually identical and both include a comprehensive selection of town plans. A unique feature is that many of these are at both large and small scale offering an overall view of the town as well as the City Centre. The other good thing about all Philip's World Atlases is that the maps are very clear and easy to read. <br /><br />For a medium format atlas, the Philip's Atlas of the World is a good choice and competes directly with the Times Concise Atlas both in size and in price.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />
